Abortion should be outlawed for a plethora of reasons. One reason is that it's killing innocent lives. Robin Abcarian states,"Across the country they have revived efforts to amend state constitutions to declare that personhood-- and all rights accorded human beings begins at conception." This means that a humans life begins at fertilization. Another reason abortion should be outlawed is because it is unsafe for the mother. Lifedynamics.com surveyed a list of 347 women who were killed as a result of legal abortions since 1973. TFP student action says that the national cancer institute did a study led by Dr. Janet Daliry and her collegues at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer research later found a link between abortion and cancer. The last reason abortion should be outlawed is because the percentage of abortions are really higher than we have recorded. According to Pollister Lewis, "Nobody really knows what proportion of women in the U.S actually have an abortion. We have to assume that 8% is a minimum figure." Geroge Skelton says a fifth of the women we interveiwed who admitted they've had an abortion said they had never before told anyone about it. From this we can assume that the percentage of abortions in the U.S is higher than we think. Many people believe that human life does not began until a child is born. Scientifically speaking, a childs life begins at conception. When fertilization has taken place, so has a new life because the child has DNA and comes from two human parents which makes the new life, obviously, a human as well. The child also has living embryos and zygotes. Anything that argues with this point is a belief or theory rather than a fact because it is not based on the most reliable source which is science.

Abortion should not be outlawed in the United States because if abortions are outlawed they won't stop, there will just be less safe options, outlawing abortions limits women's access to make their own choices and victims of crimes such as rape and incest should not be forced to carry out the pregnancy that was unwanted.
The number of women who get abortions would not change if abortions became illegal. Each year about 78,000 women dies from unsafe abortions even though abortion are legal now, so if they became illegal that number would ride dramatically. Governments instead of doctors are the people who make medical recommendations and give opinions. This does not give insight to proper medical procedures. Another fact is some women are not able to care for a child with their financial standings , so reproductive choices can be the only thing standing between an woman and poverty.
Women's right to cancer screenings would not be accessible if abortions were outlawed. It would also put an end to educational programs to prevent teen pregnancy because most educational programs are held at clinics where abortion procedures are preformed. Outlawing abortions would also contradict the Supreme Courts affirmation to a woman's constitutional right of privacy.
Odds are that 1 in 3 women become victim to a form of sexual violence. A child resulting for sexual violence would be a daily reminder of the crime done to them. The child could bring awful memories to the mother mind and could cause the mother to be very abusive to the child once it is born, so the child would have to carry the burden of being "a child of rape" on its back for the rest of his/her life which could cause a variety of many different mental illness in the child's future.
A counterclaim to our side of the debate is that abortion could be considered murder. Our refutation for that is, in the eye's of the the law an unborn baby is not considered to be a human being. Another counterclaim is that abortion goes against many different religious/cultural beliefs. The refutation of this counterclaim is that in many early civilization they practice "human sacrifice" this is when you kill one or more humans to the gods as a gift. They also practice "child sacrifice" in which you take a born or a unborn child and kill it to please the gods. As we all know this is the most well know counterclaim used against abortion, "Abortion is unsafe". The refutation to the counterclaim is that a legal abortion is better than an illegal one. Just because the government bans abortion doesn't make them stop happening, this just makes them even more dangerous. As an example of illegal abortion, Mr. Kermit Gosnell has a history of reckless abortion practices which extends back to as far as 1972. The article states that "he injured nine women by testing an experimental abortion device on them which caused plastic razor blades to lacerate their wombs." In other word Mr. Gosnell used a device that was not approved for practice, so that caused the nine women he used it on to be severely injured in the process of the abortion. This proves that even when abortion is legal, illegal abortion is taking place so that shows that outlawing abortion will only make the illegal abortion rise.
