It's inhumane for someone to kill a living being when it has the potential for life and so much more, especially as the baby has had no chance to experience the joys of life. It is no different to murder.

Pro

But that's the thing - that minute cluster of cells is NOT a living being in stages as early as that - its 'life' is completely dependent on the mother existing and living and so the mother should have their own choice. The joys of life? How could you possibly predict this potential life's quality of life, what if they turn out to be a manic depressive or even a serial killer?

But it's not just a clutter of cells. You can get abortions at 28 weeks, yet babies have been born at that time and survived to have healthy lives, so people are undeniably killing living beings. And your second argument can be flipped, they are just as likely to lead great lives, potentially helping endless people by curing cancer or becoming a world leader.

Do you have no sympathy for the mother at all? In this day and age a woman is not in control of what she does with her own body because 'authorities' think that the health and wellbeing of only a potential life is more important than the health and wellbeing of an already existing human. A woman should at least have the right to abort if her health is jeopardised. She should have the right to abort if that's what she wants to do - what child wants to know they were unplanned and unwanted?

I would much rather be alive and know I was unplanned, than aborted and not know! Obviously if the mother is highly at risk during early stages of the pregnancy then there are ways of dealing with it. But it is normally the case that mothers' would place the well-being of their unborn child over their own well-being because they have a sense of basic compassion. Something that cannot be said about everyone...

Pro

And it appears you lack the basic compassion of allowing a mother to abort her potential child if she was a victim of rape. You'd rather her raise the child as a constant reminder of her sexual abuse? And god forbid the child ended up looking like her rapist - where's your compassion now?

funny when these pro-choice feminists are pro-circumcision, which then makes all their claims MOOT... to find out if the position is legit or SUPERSELFISH, just as them about circumcision.

You should not force anyone to do anything with their body. Woman bodily rights should never be denied. If this was not the case then it would be ok to force someone to give kidney to save someones life. This is of course not the case because we would not want to live in such a world. Same with forcing a woman to endure pregnancy. Morally it may be wrong in many cases but as far as law goes the right to abort should never be denied.

Reasons for voting decision: Point1: Abortion is murder Pro contends it?s a cluster of dependant cells, a mother?s choice. Con rebuts, abortions occur at 28 weeks with potential for survivability. (C1) Point 2: Quality of life. Pro?s outcome of birth, depressive or killer. Con rebuts positive outcome just as possible (C1) Point 3: Mother?s health jeopardized. Con concedes to Pro?s point in the case of high risk pregnancy (P1) Point 4: Child knowing if planned or not Pro contends no child wants to know they were unplanned and unwanted. Con rebuts ?I would much rather be alive and know I was unplanned, than aborted and not know! ?(If a person does not exist what is it they know or don?t know? Logic lacking) (P1) Point 5: PRO: Compassion for rape victim Pro states that the product is a constant reminder of abuse. (Uncontested point due to forfeit) (P1) C2/P3
