Should abortion be legal

Abortion should definitely be legal. . Many arguments against that statement would be that she would be killing an innocent life that cannot speak for itself, but by oppressing the right of a woman's decision, you are in fact limiting that right to the speech of a born citizen. It does not make sense to limit the right of speech for those who are born and make conscious decisions for those not born. It may not be practical for the women to kill her infant and she could give up her baby for adoption, but after delivery, a mother will feel the need to take care of the baby as her own, which usually is not practical for her financial state. Most women, around 83.4% , who opt for adoption are either in high school, or in a financial state not able to provide for her child, causing an increase in the individual's poverty line. According to the 14th Amendment, we all have equal rights, and since the baby can not live outside of its mother, the mother must be able to choose over her body,
Debate Round No. 1

Abortion IS killing in innocent life that you made yourself it is YOUR fault you should ALWAYS keep the baby and then put them up for adoption it is unjust and you are killing your creation if you abort your baby you are nothing but selfish.

A baby isn't always planned. Contraception methods (a condom) may fail in the last minute, so even if safe sex is practiced, its not always the women's fault for having this baby in the first place. Also, when women are raped, as if violation is not shameful enough, they must also carry a life inside of them that shares their nutrients with them on top of the burden? The 14th amendment says we all have the freedom and equal rights as everyone around us. Whether a person is responsible or irresponsible for their actions doesn"t change the fact that they have the freedom to choose and act to begin with. It is the not the place of government to legislate against woman's choices. Research shows that an unwanted child in the womb is exposed to a variety of circumstances outside the womb, so if the mother is not happy with this pregnancy, her actions will psychologically impact the child for the rest of their life, growing up as mentally ill or portraying themselves as failures later on.

3 points to Con (Arguments). Reasons for voting decision: Pro fails to understand that willingly taking part in an action comes with consequences. Precaution does not prevent them from the consequences of the precaution's failure nor does it give them any right to avoid the consequences.

[*Reason for removal*] The voter is required to specifically analyze points made by both debaters. In this case, the voter only does so for Pro, and appears to respond with their own views on the points made rather than anything from Con. The voter is also required to stick to arguments made in the debate and not add their own in to change the outcome. Both of these problems make the vote insufficient.

5 points to Pro (Conduct, S&G, Arguments). Reasons for voting decision: Pro obviously had more information and conducted their argument in a more mature manner.

[*Reason for removal*] The voter is required to specifically explain each point allocation. Merely stating that one side had more information and was "more mature" doesn't explain any of them directly, nor does it reference specific reasons from the debate to support this analysis. The extension in the comments helps, but the voter is still required to analyze Pro's arguments, and not provide their own insights as reasons to vote against Con.

Con, you give a weak argument. Also, just because people decide to have sex, doesn't mean that they're automatically obligated to have the baby and be denied any treatment to abort the fetus.
If someone who gets into a car crash is hurt, they're not denied treatment, yet they knew that getting hit was a possibility before they got in the car.
If someone who smokes gets lung cancer, they're not denied treatment, yet they knew that getting cancer could happen before they lit the cigarette.

Basically my point is that consent of an action is not consent to the result of that action.

You are naive, eparchuri. If you have sex, then you already made your choice. You shouldn't be able to back out of your mistakes. You deserve to suffer your mistakes in order to teach you to knock it off with your bad choices. Grow up.

In the United States abortion is legal. However, it becomes illegal to abort a fetus after the third-trimester of the pregnancy. It is also illegal for physicians to perform the procedure unless their are extenuating circumstances that can be verified for example: rape, incest, life and death matters involving the mother, infant, or both, etc.

I do not believe abortion should be used as a form of birth control. For instances, too cute, too much fun, lonely, feels good, take a chance that the night won't result in a pregnancy. Oops, oh well I'll have it taken care of at the clinic.

Reasons for voting decision: Arguments: Con's only argument is that abortion is murder, but he fails to prove that a fetus is alive or that it is a human. On the other hand, Pro points out several examples of reasons why abortion should be allowed, such as rape, failed contraceptives, and a mother too young to raise a child, and explains why these are valid reasons to allow abortion.
