Yes, I know that this has been debated hundreds of times but I wanted to have a say.
I think abortion is morally wrong.

Debate me.

Because my opponent has not made an argument in Round 1, I will not either. I am pressed for time, so I will give him the floor. This will just proceed as a two round debate. I believe it makes more sense for him to go first anyway because is arguing that something is morally wrong and therefore must explain why this is so. Without any dissent I don't need an argument to say that abortion is permissible any more than I need to argument that eating toast is permissible. This is not a statement about the burden of proof, which should be equal, but simply about the natural of morally argument.

Ok, first I want to thank grape for accepting the debate challenge.
Also I would like to apologize for not quite knowing how this works, because this is only my second debate.
And I would like to apologize to grape because I am going on vacation and just found out that there is no internet connection where i'm staying.

When I get back I would like to challenge grape to another debate on the same topic.

Unfortunately my opponent is not able to continue this debate. In order to win I have to make at least some arguments, so I will lay the foundation of my case. If my opponent is able to continue, I will elaborate on these arguments in Round 3.

Argument 1: Beingness

For much of its existence, a fetus has no conscious mind and is not distinct in its level of awareness from a tree or a rock. It is certainly not immoral to destroy these objects when it is convenient to do so. Even in its later stages of development the fetus is less advanced than animals we frequently eat. [1]

Argument 2: Self-Ownership

Even if a fetus were a fully conscious person, it would not have the right to use another person's body as a life support system at her expense. The fetus is little more than a parasite, and it is fully within the woman's right to ownership of her own body to cut it loose.

You can go first or you can let me go first; its your choice.

I will post round one tomorrow night so that no matter when you respond, my trip this week (Thursday-Saturday) will not get in the way of the debate. Do you want me to actually make an argument or just note that I have accepted? Right now I have two more rounds than you because you did not make an argument in round one yourself. I can leave round three blank and make this a two round debate with me going first if you prefer. I am open to any setup, but I don't want to put you at a disadvantage by going first and last.
