Affirmative Action - for the purposes of this debate, only race will be discussed, and not other factors, like religion or gender, will be argued.

There would be a shared burden of proof.

I, Pro, will argue the resolution.
Con will argue that Affirmative Action programs should not be banned, and continue to be practiced in colleges and universities nationwide.

Thanks, Pro, for instigating this debate.

Given that my opponent has yet to present an argument, I'll assume that this round is for introductions and acceptance.

I accept that I will be arguing Affirmative Action (AA) programs should not be banned, and continue to be practiced in colleges and universities nationwide. Of course, this does not mean that I have to either encourage this practice, or expect all schools to utilize it. All I must do is prove that AA programs should not be banned, and be allowed to continue to be practiced in universities.

As clarified in the comments section, because the government doesn't mandate any AA policies in universities, I do not have to support government-mandated AA. I will be defending the university's usage of self-imposed Affirmative Action as opposed to say the government mandating quotas.

Thanks again, Pro. I look forward to your arguments.

Considering it would be "bad conduct" to post an argument in the last round, I won't. It's unfortunate that my opponent never posted anytihng for me to respond to in the previous rounds. If he'd like, I'd be more than happy to try debating this again in the future.

Are you referring to elective affirmative action? As in, the university chooses to practice this policy as opposed to the government mandating quotas? If so, I'll take this.

I have no idea either, lol I was just wondering. I might take this, but probably not

Any policy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the government doesn't mandate any affirmative action policies in universities.

does affirmative action refer to government mandated, or simply any policy based on race?
