I think Albus Dumbledore is a much more powerful wizard than Lord Voldemort, in terms of MAGIC. I don't care about Dumbledore being powerful due to wisdom, just his ability to duel and use magic to thwart Lord Voldemort and his opponents.

Please don't start debating on your first turn. Just say that you're going to debate and then on the next round, I'll post my argument and so will you.

Thanks! :)

Hello, thanks very much for accepting this challenge.

To see whether Dumbledore was much powerful than Voldemort, I will try to assess their only known duel since it pretty much summed up their power and knowledge of magic. Now, I acknowledge that Voldemort was indeed powerful and was more keen to use Dark magic than Dumbledore even though Dumbledore also knew Dark magic yet "too noble to use it", as quoted by McGonagall (The Boy Who Lived. SS).

Voldemort was not ready to face Dumbledore as he was surprise by his mere sight. Here's the exact text: "What "" ?" said Voldemort, staring around. And then he breathed, "Dumbledore!" (The Only One He Ever Feared. OOTP). On the contrary, Dumbledore was very quick enough to plan the duel, ensuring his and Harry's safety. In other words, he was strategic. When Voldemort shot a spell at him, Dumbledore Disapparated and enchanted the statues: the statue of the witch to immobilize Bellatrix, the statue of the headless wizard to shield Harry, the statue of the centaur as his protection from Voldemort and the statue of the house elf and the goblin to warn the Ministry officials that Voldemort had arrived.

Dumbledore also had a very precise shooting as he was able to shoot a very powerful spell directly at Voldemort in which Voldemort had to conjure a shield to block the spell. Meanwhile, Voldemort failed to shoot Dumbledore, "... instead hitting the security guards desk, which burst into flame" (The Only One He Ever Feared. OOTP). Voldemort also was scared of facing Dumbledore even if he knew he had seven Horcruxes to keep himself alive but he still had not been able to kill nor injure Dumbledore, preferring to remain behind the shield as Dumbledore tried to talk to him.

Dumbledore escaped Voldemort's four attempts to kill him as he was able to Disapparate and enchant the statues, Disapparate quick enough to miss Voldemort's Killing Curse that hit the security guard's desk, used the statue of the centaur which galloped to take the unexpected Killing Curse, and had a powerful bird that swallowed the Killing Curse shot at him. Very epic. However, it is intriguing how Voldemort had not been able to take the upper hand as Dumbledore encased him with a molten sphere of water simultaneously as he got rid of the slithering serpent. This resulted Voldemort to flee which means he had lost because he cannot find a way to personally attack the Headmaster, having found him too powerful to duel with. Also, Voldemort chose to possess Harry which also failed.

Now some readers will point out that Dumbledore was using the Elder Wand which gained him the upper hand. Well, in a sense this is true but what's the point of a powerful object if it ended up in a weak wizard's hands, or cannot be used properly? Also the Deathly Hallows were not truly powerful as they appeared. For example, the Invisibility Cloak was ironically not invisible as Dumbledore and Mad-Eye Moody can see the user under the Cloak.

I'll wait for your response.
