All drugs, including hard drugs such as heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine should be either legalized or decriminalized by the government for recreational and medicinal uses. Everyone has the right to their own consciousness and should be free to recreationally use substances as they please.

Drugs are bad. Period. Think about children. Many children who have drug users as parents have to go through extensive abuse! How would you like it if your parents were always on cocaine or marijuana, and were always abusing and mistreating you? Nobody likes or deserves that! So WHY on earth do we want to LEGALISE DRUGS? We can help those who cannot defend themselves from drug using parents by keeping drugs illegal!
Take a moment to think about it. Is this the kind of world we want our children growing up in? A world full of drug addicts? I don"t think so, and I definitely do not want any child of mine to have to live in a society with drugs legalised.
Drugs ruin your life and mess up your head! There are kids in high schools and colleges, and sometimes even middle schools on drugs! These children are th troublemakers, have bad grades, get into fights, don"t do homework, and other various things that are not good. They don"t pay attnetion in class. By legalising drugs, you are encouraging more people to try it because many will say that there must be a reason why it was legalised, and get it in their heads that drugs are good which is a complete lie!
This isn"t even a REAL debate! Have you ever seen someone under a drug addiction? They aren"t themselves! They are a completely different peson who will do stupid things or make frequent mistakes because they are not in their right mind
For those that think drugs relieve stress: Drugs do nothing of the sort! People have exisisted for centuries and have never needed crack or cocaine or marijuana to handle stress! Drugs ruin you, your body, your mind, everything! Remember, the user is not the only person affected by drugs; all those around him/her are affected indirectly.
People say that we should have a right to do whatever we want with our bodies. We don't. You can't walk down the street naked, so why should you be allowed to do harmful things to it, like putting poisonous chemicals into it? All it does it hurt you.

Sorry for the wait, my mom just got into a bad accident and family had priority . Legalizing drugs includes the help programs that come with the libertarian policies that are adopted by governments such as the Netherlands and many other western european countries. The focus of a libertarian approach to the war on drugs consists of harm reduction, rehabilitation, order, safety and prevention. The misconceptions involve abusive parents is a blanket statement assuming that all people who do drugs are horrible people who abuse their children. This statement has no scientific proof or weight within this argument. Within the america drug users and addicts are very limited to addiction treatment. About 90% of the 25 million addicts in america are unable to receive treatment due to the lack of funding for treatment. (1) By legalizing drugs users will not only be safer due to clean pure drugs and clean needles but they will also be able to readily access the care they need to kick addiction. Legal or illegal drugs will never go away, addiction and drug users are a part of our everyday world. Instead of the government and anti-drug lobbyist's Poor use of drug education that resembles propaganda and demonizes users, the government can establish a fact based education that informs kids of the effects of drugs, as well as the truth about drug users. That truth being that they are human beings who suffer from a disease rather than the scum of society they're portrayed to be. The current drug war is a war upon users, those who needs the governments help the most and without effective reform such as legalization there will continue to be drug crime, continued spread of HIV and addiction.

well, then again you guys also have to keep in mind that making drugs illegal would mean the end of some medicinal practices.

While I think drugs are dangerous and bring crime with them, I believe that people should be allowed to do what they want as long as they don't endanger other people in the process. If we were to make drugs legal and it brought more crime with to our cities that would be endangering other people then we would have to outlaw drugs again. It is a tough question to answer.

And all government treatment centers should be shut down. Do not make the rest of us pay for your stupidity. Setting up those things just encourages bad behavior.

Right to ones consciousness would exclude being involuntarily being drugged by something such as Rohypnol and or drugs such as GHB

You may wish to refine your case to avoid being sniped too badly, the very existence of roofies could likely defeat your case (if cited by your opponent).
