Pro

Round 1 is for acceptance, and stating your broad counter-stance (no arguments or proofs needed.)

Rounds 2 & 3 are for arguments, and rebuttals.

Round for is for final thoughts and observations.

Opening statement:
Based on the ineffectual efforts of the U.S' "War on Drugs", and based on the spirit of The Declaration of Independence as well as The Constitution - where we are to view each other as free, responsible individuals- the possession and use of recreational drugs should be legalized.

Con

The distinction between "recreational" and other mind-altering drugs is arbitrary. So legalizing ALL "recreational" drugs is WAY out of proportion.

"Recreational drugs" don't exist as a defined category.
Looking to even the least reliable sources, we find that a wide variety of drugs has been used for "recreational" purposes:

http://en.wikipedia.org... lists chloral hydrate as a recreational drug.

And in more detail: "Its sedative properties were first published in 1869 and subsequently, because of its easy synthesis, its use was widespread. It was widely used recreationally and misprescribed in the late 19th century. Chloral hydrate is soluble in both water and alcohol, readily forming concentrated solutions. A solution of chloral hydrate in alcohol called "knockout drops" was used to prepare a Mickey Finn." http://en.wikipedia.org...

Making the chemical used for knocking people out accessible to anybody more easily would be a bad thing. Surely, even more people would be sedated, robbed or raped.

No society should make it easier to victimize its citizens.

Hence, the resolution that ALL recreational drugs SHOULD be legalized is totally overblown.

All I had to do to prove the resolution wrong was to show that not ALL "recreational" drugs should be legalized. If even one such drug exists that should not be legalized, then the resolution is disproved.

As one example for such drug, I choose chloral hydrate.

Over to my opponent.

My opponent forfeited and presented not a single argument.
Seems to be pretty ususal on this site, which is a pity.
Could've been a good debate.

Extend argument.
Thanks and goodbye!

That is alright by me. At the same time defund all medical treatment for those who choose that lifestyle.

Reasons for voting decision: Conduct - Con. Pro forfeited multiple rounds which is rarely acceptable conduct in any debate setting. Arguments - Con. Pro failed to affirm the resolution by not presenting any arguments or rebuttals. Due to this, Con takes arguments as he was left standing unchallenged. Sources - Con. Pro failed to utilize sources throughout this debate whereas Con did. This is a clear win for Con.
