I don't understand why people think all star cheerleading is not a sport. We work just as hard as anybody else does and in fact even harder most of the times. School cheer which is the one with the girls on the sidelines is not as much of a sport as all star, we do NOT cheer for another sport. You need to have strength and you need to be flexible you need to have elite tumbling passes. And when people say we lift up girls who are under 100 pound. That's funny cause why is my flyer an 18 year old who weighs 150 pounds. And there are lots of really heavier girls who work for their spots to be a flyer so don't say you could do that cause I know for sure that you cant hold someone above your head with one arm with out being trained properly . Cheerleading follows all the criteria of the definition of a sport. Tumbling is one of the main parts of cheer there are girls that are 7 who can do standing fulls. Most people who argue about cheer being a sport are people who have never even stepped a foot on the blue mat or they judge them on what they hear but the truth is you cant say something is easy unless you have done it. https://www.youtube.com... in the video of the girl doing the full do you think she just woke up one morning and was able to do that of course not she worked for that day after day. https://www.youtube.com...
I'm sorry but I don't understand how this is not a sport.

All star cheerleading is not a sport because it lacks competition. Sure it requires skill, and I'd never disrespect someone doing it, but it's merely an activity designed to put on a show that has been glorified to have a little competition. And the reason why this competition isn't a sport is because you have judges And nothing else, not an end zone, a home plate, net, a finish line, or a hoop. So because of that, you might lose in Florida, but do the exact same routine and win in New York, all because of a different line of judges. Sure other sports have officials that differ, but they do not make solely judgement calls. Sure it's physical activity, sure it's some competition, but, then again, under some people's definition, video gaming is also a sport. But, unlike cheerleading, the game itself keeps score, and is usually flawless, and is unbiased.

By the logic of the Con post, diving, gymnastics (artistic and rhythmic), synchronized swimming, and figure skating are not sports either, even though they are Olympic events. Sure, sports whose outcomes are determined solely by judges have their issues (think about the figure skating scandal at the 2002 Winter Olympics), but that fact alone does not mean that a physical activity between direct competitors is not a sport.
