animal testing is good because animals can be controlled in certain environments. I think it's good because this method protects people from harmful effects of using products that have not been previously tested.
We acknowledge your valid point of the animals inability to defend themselves in this case; however, we are not advocating for violent treatment taking place within these testing facilities. Animal testing can take place with respectful limitations of the animals without harm being done to them.
A product is being tested due to no knowledge of how the product will affect what it is being used for. For example, skin products. There is no way of knowing if the product being tested on the animal will be safe or not. It is a big risk that can end in harm for an innocent animal.
Your argument is true, however, if we were to not test products at all, this could result in huge liabilities that companies face regarding injury and safety violations of the general public. Products have to be tested on something before being exposed to the human population.
Research has proven that animals are the closest representation that there is to a human. We both contain similar functions and systems within our bodies that make us the most compatible to finding what is, and what is not harmful for our bodies.
Although they may be the closest to human, there are still materials that will give the same results. Although more time and tests will be involved in the experiment, we can achieve the results we need without harming animals or humans.
You can in fact use man made materials to replicate similar tests. however, there are only so many things you could test on man made materials because the human body is very intricate and complex, where only other organisms can recreate similar body reactions.
