Depression is a mental stage. Pills are for the physical body. No matter how much scientists want to get inside our head they cant. Pills have so many side effects because they dont work. Theres more Cons then Pros. Anti -Depressant pills are a state of mind. Its like when you were a child and your mom gave you a sugar cube and told you that it would make you not feel sick anymore, you believed her and because you mentally thought it would work then it did. The only reason pills "work" is because a doctor is telling the patient they do. Well some people might say "Why wouldnt you believe a doctor" but have you ever thought of the fact that people with depression on anti depression pills are still deprresed and is still a day by day struggle? Its all mental.

You are right that depression is a state of mind and that pills are for the physical body. However, anything that occurs in the brain is a physical occurrence. Anything mental is the result of physical connections.

I will elaborate. In the brain, there exists these chemicals known as neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters assist in sending information between neurons via synapses and the neurotransmitters move across syanapses.

Serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine are three examples of neurotransmitters. It has been recorded that they have an effect on depression when they are in excess or in deficiency.

Dopamine is a prime example of having an effect on moods. Dopamine activity in the brain is increased when addictive drugs are used, and when this occurs a happy feeling develops. From this, it is logical that when contrasted and dopamine levels are low, a feeling opposite of happy would occur.

A pill can be used to balance any chemical imbalances and hence can deal with any chemicals causing depression.
