Yes ghosts are real. How else does stuff happen. It is proven not on ghost shows but human experience that they are real. They have be seen and its not a lie. People don't understand the concept because I'm not going to lie there is no concept. But if people have strange things happening to them and there in a haunted place, its not their imagination.

Cultures all around the world believe in spirits that survive death to live in another realm. In fact, ghosts are among the most widely believed of paranormal phenomena: Millions of people are interested in ghosts, and a 2005 Gallup poll found that 37 percent of Americans believe in haunted houses and nearly half believe in ghosts.

The idea that the dead remain with us in spirit is an ancient one, and one that offers many people comfort; who doesn't want to believe that our beloved but deceased family members aren't looking out for us, or with us in our times of need? Most people believe in ghosts because of personal experience; they have seen or sensed some unexplained presence. Personal experience is one thing, but scientific evidence is another matter, and it is completely lacking in this case.

Many people believe that support for the existence of ghosts can be found in no less a hard science than modern physics. It is widely claimed that Albert Einstein suggested a scientific basis for the reality of ghosts; if energy cannot be created or destroyed but only change form, what happens to our body's energy when we die? Could that somehow be manifested as a ghost? It seems like a reasonable assumption unless you understand basic physics. The answer is very simple, and not at all mysterious. After a person dies, the energy in his or her body goes where all organisms' energy goes after death: into the environment. The energy is released in the form of heat, and transferred into the animals that eat us (i.e.., wild animals if we are left unburied, or worms and bacteria if we are interred), and the plants that absorb us. There is no bodily "energy" that survives death to be detected with popular ghost-hunting devices.

I'd also like to raise the point, that pro, in his arguments, claimed a persons perception of an event is suitable evidence for its existence. I won't even go into detail on this point due to its overbearing silliness with such simple examples as a common optical illusion.

I believe this argument to be suitable for my opening round and pass the baton back to pro.

Many people believe and it is true. 37% is not a lot which is correct more than half do not believe but what about those who do. You cant say that weird things that happen are not caused from a belongings body. Yes your body leaves but not all have to. When people say the word ghost they use it as a scary spirit that is haunting them. There are know to be demons or bad people to stay. The human mind is not just making up what is happening. Can you explain if this is not a ghost then what is it? Its not another person alive, it could be a presence.

A ghost in the sense you are defining is simply the misinterpretation of events by people that see things they around them they can't explain, much like religion but in a much more primal sense. The human brain works in a way to gain a complete understanding of things around it. This works very well in survival instinct, but makes empiricism difficult. For these above reasons, just because someone says the see something it doesn't mean it is a ghost. It is either a hallucination or misrepresentation of events around them.
