Girls should be allowed to wear whatever they want to school, as long as its not showing their, yano. We are telling society that " boys will be boys " and they will check girls out. Why should girls be punished for wearing what they like to wear? Boys are the ones that should be reprimanded for being boys! As long as girls aren't wearing bikinis, why not? If the shorts are above their fingertips, and those shorts are some of the only shorts their families can afford, how is it fair for them to be punished?? Girls should be allowed to wear what they want.

Con

Girls should not be allowed to wear whatever they want to school. You can't punish "boys for being boys" or "girls for being girls", but you can punish bad behavior, so that bad behavior will not continue.

Schools consider bad behavior as wearing sexually suggestive. By wearing "extra short shorts", you are provoking boys. It is human nature to be attracted to the opposite sex, but by wearing skimpy clothes you are becoming even more sexually attractive. In a school environment, becoming educated is the primary goal. To become educated, or learn, you have to pay attention. By wearing sexually suggestive clothing, you are making it more difficult for the opposite sex to pay attention to their studies.

Therefore, girls harm boys by wearing sexually suggestive clothing. How much harm? I don't know. It is difficult to prove. I think it is safe to say a significant amount of harm. Boys will be extra motivated to date girls - and not for there personality- in a school environment. Keep dating outside school. School is for learning.

@mdc32: How does this "clearly" win on S&G?: 2 comma chokes, one adjective without a modified noun, and the use of there instead of their against the use of the non-word "yano" and excessive question marks.

It may have been a terrible argument, but Pro's spelling and grammar was objectively better than Con's.

You are not punishing the girls for being girls you are punishing them for disobeying the dress code just like you would punish a boy. Pro is close minded on the subject that is all

How is it punishing girls to have to dress modestly? The taxpayer is spending an immoral amount of money to pay for education, and they have a right to have a return on that investment, not hampered by silly girls.

Wow, Pro. That's a pretty sexist claim if you ask me. "Why should girls be punished for wearing what they like to wear? Boys are the ones that should be reprimanded for being boys!" So, punish boys for being boys, but not girls for being girls? I'd like to see you back this up well.

Reasons for voting decision: Spelling and grammar - "There" "their" and "they're" are different words and ought to be treated as such. You cannot wear sexually suggestive, if anything they must be wearing sexually suggestive clothing, etc, etc. Arguments: Clothing isn't priced by square feet of fabric, Pro's arguments are specious and his claims that girls are being punished for the bad behavior of boys is not only blind to human nature (as per Con's argument) but is belied by the caveats provided (as long as they aren't wearing bikinis, or showing their "yano", I take it because that would be distracting to boys)

Reasons for voting decision: Pro had arguments that collapsed among themselves. The amount of rounds, or lack there of, terminated any sort of intelligent debate. However con did have some rebuttals and did present their case properly and pro could not rebut. My vote goes to Con but I would like to see this debate with multiple amount of rounds as I could think of captivating points from both sides.

Reasons for voting decision: Weak arguments from Pro. Saying that short shorts may be the only affordable shorts is irrelevant. Most short shorts/running shorts are pretty expensive, if you ask me. Also, Con clearly wins on S&G
