I accept this debate.

I will be arguing why printed yearbooks are necessary.

As I am the one affirming the resolution, added upon the fact that the contexts of the resolution are extremely vague, AAAAAND my opponent said there were no rules, I will clarify upon the contexts of the resolution.

To have a yearbook club, printed yearbooks are necessary.

I define a yearbook club as a school-sponsored, extracurricular organization dedicated to the production and distribution of school yearbooks to the student populace. This includes, but is certainly not limited to, article writing and photo taking and editing.

The burden of proof will be split between the two of us. I must prove why it's necessary and my opponent must prove why it isn't.

I wish my opponent good luck.

As my opponent forfeited and left me nothing to respond to, I shall make a brief case as to illustrate my position, in hopes of my opponent returning to this mental melee.

For the creation of a yearbook club in a school, of course it seems fairly self-evident that you would need a yearbook to base the club around. For without that yearbook, the entire existence of the club would be arbitraty and paradoxical. Arbitrary because what's the point of a yearbook club that doesn't make the yearbook?, and paradoxical because a yearbook club that doesn't make yearbooks seems to contradict itself. Thus, in order for a non-arbitrary, non-paradoxical yearbook club to be made, yearbooks would be a necessity.

I hope my opponent comes back...

Reasons for voting decision: Pro wins because he argued without a rebuttal Con. I'm guessing that what Con was thinking was either "Yearbook clubs should make web pages or DVDs rather tan printed books." or maybe "With the web, there's no need for yearbook clubs." but Con gave no clue what he wanted to debate, so Pro made a reasonable interpretation. Instigators need to make it clear what they want to debate.
