Hello! Please join the debate.

I think that schools lunches are unhealthy because, some of the normally served items(example: cheeseburgers, chicken nuggets, ect.) can be considered junk food. As we all know, junk food is bad for you.

School lunches help provide a balanced diet.
It provides us with the fruits, vegetables, protein, and dairy necessary.

They have also taken the initiative to provide healthy substitutions like raw zuchini, cooked broccoli, and other things in substitution to chips and other things.

They also provide grilled meats instead of the the usual fried meats.

This goes out to prove that lunches are healthy.

Yes, I can agree to how some things in the school menu are healthy. But, most kids do not eat the vegetables served to them. Therefore, they do not really have any value.

Also, I can agree that the milk is healthy, but what about when they only drink the chocolate milk? Chocolate milk is not very healthy.

Yes, I can agree to how some things in the school menu are healthy. But, most kids do not eat the vegetables served to them.

Even though some people don't eat the vegeables, doesn't mean that they are not healthy. When I go to McDonald's, I order chicken nuggets. That doesn't mean there salad has no value. It is still healthy.

Also, I can agree that the milk is healthy, but what about when they only drink the chocolate milk? Chocolate milk is not very healthy.

Chocolate milk still has the same amount of calcium. Chocolate milk actually promotes the consumption of milk. In fact, the chocolate milk could have been made from dark chocolate. Dark chocolate is very heathy. It improves your cardiovascular system and it can help improve cancer.

Here is pro's argument.

1. School lunches serve junk food.

2. Junk food is bad.

3. Therefore, school lunches are unhealthy.

This is a common fallacy made by debaters.

School lunches serve apples. Are apples junk food?
School lunches serve green beans. Are green beans junk food?

No! The items served above are not junk food. That makes it good. Therefore, school lunches are healthy.

I just bold what my opponent says so people can differentiate from what I say and what my opponent says but that is a good thought.

Oh, forgot to mention:

CON - this is just advice...personally I only bold what I say, not what my opponent says. I want people to look at what I write, not what my opponent writes. :)

Anyway, good job.

1) First of all, PRO's position was actually CON - she believed school lunches are NOT healthy, so I gave spelling and grammar to CON.

2) Well argued and well sourced by CON.

3) One point to PRO for participation, welcome to the website.

Reasons for voting decision: Pro pretty much conceded in R2, and the points she left up in the air were countered by con in the next round. Also, only con used sources to support his argument.
