This will be a rapid debate hopefully.

Round 1: Acceptance
Round 2: Initial Argument
Round 3: Rebuttal
Round 4: Final Statement

I will take the stance that infinite universes don't exist.

First, in the strictest interpretation of debate, I cannot "win" this at this time. The best of mathematicians and physicists can"t prove any of the theory"s that exist regarding additional universes. I am not the best of either of the two of the disciplines mentioned - I am not even one of them. My hope is to clear enough clutter from the immense confusion and convince you that it is not only possible, but understandable. With that as my mission, it is not detrimental that I am not a professional scientist, but a benefit to us both.

Within the disciplines of physics and mathematics a number of concepts exist describing similar phenomena that can be labeled as "infinite universes". For this debate, I will concentrate on only one. In this theory we will examine space-time (definition: the concepts of time and three-dimensional space regarded as fused in a four-dimensional continuum).
We can ignore a great deal of complex physics, detail that consume volumes, and just use some simple visualization. Space-time is straight. That is, as we understand it, it does not curve, or circle back in on itself. It runs infinitely off "in front" of us, as well as "behind" us. Imagine that as a line.

To make another universe, or infinite universes, in fact every universe possible and every one of those universes possible an infinite number of times, we simple have to follow the line. The reason this works is there is a finite number of ways to arrange the particles of everything that exists.

Now " we are not necessarily describing simultaneous "copy"s" right? Well, hold on. We may still. The total theoretical observable universe relative to the observer is only 13 billion years. The longest time light has traveled since the big-bang. This is "the universe", past that on the infinite line of time we are visualizing can exist the "other universe" as well as all the possible universes described above. They are "aside" one another.

Melonnade may have won this. It seems I exists in a universe all my own.

Its a shame. I am very frustrated with it right now. I looked into this person, and it is a H.S. student. It may be a part of a debate class to get some experence, or... I don't know, but it is very disappointing.

I hate to think I can drum-up better debates on Facebook than a side dedicated to real debate.

Try and set your debates up where you don't go first. This helps a little. Of course, my last one, my opponent went first, we had 2 good rounds, fairly large arguments, then the last round, nothing from my opponent. But, I think you just have to accept that above 50% will likely bailout.

TBR, I get your frustration. The site isn't nearly as good as you think it would be. I think more than half my debates end with my opponent forfeiting at some point. They should have a section for people who will actually finish their debates.

Why? Why forfeit? Why start the debate only to give in? I'm asking!

Is it complete lack of respect for the participants on the forum?

Since I took the TIME to write an argument - I consider it disrespectful. I would appreciate some reply to my question!

I just want to know if the instigator is in fact going to debate this. I getting a little frustrated with the site, and people abandoning debates.

I am ready to get going, waiting on the first round. Are you going to post?

Should I modify the debate topic? I'm new to all of this.
