I think we're taking Nintendo for granted.

If you've been here since the 70's, you probably know about Atari and what they've done for us. Remember the Crash of '83? No-one was interested in games anymore and arcades retreated to pizza parlours. Then Nintendo came onto the scene. Yeah, Nintendo stared in the arcades but on the Nintendo Entertainment System, people came back to gaming. Sega joined in too. Remember the first time watching the ad "Genesis does what Nintendon't" Sonic came onto the scene. Faster than Mario or any other of Ninty's other characters.

After the SNES and the Genesis came the N64 from Ninty, the Dreamcast from Sega and a newcomer, the PlayStation from Sony, well known for it's other feats in technology, they thought
they could make money off games. Sadly, this Generation was Sega's last hurrah in the console market and Sony and Nintendo moved on.

Nintendo then offered the gaming world the Gamecube with it's Game boy player and GBA compatibility. Sony came on with the PS2 and the world's richest man then opened up with the X-Box. The PS2 still is going strong and it's currently the biggest selling console EVER.

All of those consoles spawned sequels and Nintendo threw it's hat into motion control in and the casual market in 2005 with the Wii and then the PS2 and X-BOX evolved into the PS3 and X-Box 360. If you can see nowadays Sony and Microsoft have NOW offered the same things that the Wii does 5 YEARS LATER.

We're taking Nintendo for granted. Here's a list of all the thing Nintendo did FIRST:

The D-Pad
Casual Games
The analogue stick
A legal emulator

Please add more if you know any more.

I disagree, we are not taking them for granted.
I will not going into your long dreadful details of the.... wait her for it...... THE PAST.
Yes exactly the past,we must look at the now and the present is what has made the Nintendo of today terrible.
Yes they made all these great things like Zelda, and Mario, and Samaus.
However look at what's been made today, the Wii the biggest in my mind was the stupidest thing ever, The controllers were gotten rid of, those who desired old school controllers were saddened by this. The game selection? horrible only a few games on the wii are worth the money for is Zelda and resident evil.
Also I think that nintendo only focus's kids only. Not many if any rated M games for the wii, maybe 10 or less.
Secondly most of the new Mario games are horrible.
They might of led at the beginning but are failing us as gamers in the present.

Xbox has extraordinary multiplayer, and ps3 has the best graphics, what does the wii have?
Nothing indifferent or new as eye toy was ps2 and was similar to the wii.
They might have been awesome but they have failed us.

Taking for granted =/= not appreciative. Sega took its market position for granted and that didn't turn out well. :P
