Pro

Arthur Conan Doyle was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1859.
Wrote many great novels.
Most noted for his fictional stories about the detective Sherlock Holmes, which are generally considered milestones in the field of crime fiction.

Do you think he is a known and popular author?
Impact94

Con

I accept.

Popular: "adapted to the ordinary intelligence or taste"[1]
Known: "to perceive or understand as fact or truth; to apprehend clearly and with certainty"[2]

I would like to address that theh BoP is on pro to prove that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is both a known and popular author - inferredly in the 21st century - and that it is my argument as con that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle cannot fit either or both of these categories.

Pro forfeited and failed to prove that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is both known and popular. As a result, Pro failed to uphold the burden of proof. I did not need to rebut any of Pro's arguments because pro had made none to prove his assumption. The lack of evidence provided by pro communicates to me that there is no reason to believe the resolution in the context of this debate.

For these reasons, Pro has failed this debate. As it stands the resolution is proved false by default because of Pro's lack of evidence. Therefore, victory goes to con.
