Ash Ketchum is a boy from Pallet town in the world of Pokemon. Ever since the series began, Ash has been traveling the world. The series began when he was 10 years old. As the series progresses, Ash learns how to become a better Pokemon trainer. Ash has been through a lot of mind-changing experiences and his whole approach changed. I claim that Ash is no longer the small child we used to know from Pallet town and that the creators of the series should if not must make him age. First and foremost, Ash has become more mature than he was in the beginning of the series. Now, he no longer has the personality of a 10 years old child. Secondly, Ash is a role-model for many kids around the globe. Pokemon is still an ongoing popular anime which is watched by many children. Ash Ketchum does not act how a 10 years old boy should act. He talks to strangers, can easily trust random people he meets on the road and countless times he has fallen into Team Rocket's traps. This kind of personality teaches young children that it is okay to talk with strangers and that they will never really hurt you, and gives them bad ideas that they can become heroes like Ash and defeat criminals. If Ash were older, 15 years old for example, kids will understand that if they want to change the world and help make it a better place they should wait until they are older and not to risk themselves. Last but not least - Education. Kids learn from what they see on TV, and they learn from shows like Pokemon. Nearly everyone who watched Pokemon as a child wanted to be Ash Ketchum. As long as Ash Ketchum is 10 years old, more and more kids will want to be a Pokemon trainer like Ash and travel around the world. However, this is currently impossible, therefore it will only lead to sadness and sorrow due to not being able to fulfill your dream. What we might get is a generation of sad, dreamless children with zero motivation that will be devastated only because since they were small they couldn't make their dreams come true. However, if Ash were older, they wouldn't give up on their dreams so soon and it will even encourage them to keep following their dreams no matter how much time it might take to fulfill them, just as Ash has been doing. In conclusion, Ash should age in order to be a better role-model for children across the globe and also for the older fans who dislike the irrational aging system in Pokemon.
Pokemon is a show/game series that is made to appeal to the younger generations. One reason that children enjoy the series so much is because they have a character their age that they can relate to. If you age the character, children will lose interest in the show.
"One reason that children enjoy the series so much is because they have a character their age that they can relate to. " - You are assuming that the reason children enjoy and watch the series is because of the main character's age. While children may be influenced by the age of the character, it does not affect their opinion towards the show. In some cartoons the age of the main characters is not even told, yet children like it. For example, "Spongebob". Moreover, children watch cartoons not because of the character's age, but because of the content and the plot. However, even if it does affect the children, it will not necessarily make them dislike the show. It might make them like the cartoon even more than they liked it before, and see Ash's character as someone whom they want to be once they grow up.
