Con

Assassination is a murder of a prominent person, usually for political reasons.

Killing someone, no matter what the reason, degrades the US law. Imagine living in a world where you could kill whoever you want and not get punished for it. That is the message the US is sending, such as when Saddam Hussein.

Let the justice system do what it is there for.

Pro

My opponent does not clarify what he means, but looking at the title and my opponent's position, I will argue against murder. Assasination is immoral. Since my opponent has made no points at all, I will begin.

Why is murder immoral?
Assasinating someone is ending someone's life. Who knows what that person may do or become in the future, by assasinating someone, you are cutting their life short. Any logical person would agree that assasination is wrong. A physical person, breaths, has feelings, and may have future goals. By killing a person, you are ending their life. Put yourself into their perspective. Would you want to be killed? Also, think about their friends and family. Would they want him to get killed? Suppose you are under gun point, would you tell the one holding the gun to your head to try and convince him not to kill you?

I really do not feel that there needs to be a source, but here is one anyway.

We're debating the same side. This was poorly constructed on my part.

Reasons for voting decision: 1 round debates bite, but other than that the Pro quickly justified it and did more than enough to win this debate

Reasons for voting decision: Bad and confusing debate is bad and confusing. Con took one side, yet argued a different one. Con argued the correct side, so I go there.

Reasons for voting decision: I think both sides had a poor case, but pr proved that the majority of the time assassination is immoral through the case of murder. He also showed the innocent (sometimes) family would suffer from great grief and miss the lost family member and the friends of the victim may be saddened as well. In the majority of cases murder is immoral. I think pro should have included what if they get the wrong guy or other methods like arrest may be just as good. Either way pro won.
