yes, but only 12% of the population got to vote for the things. And the total population was 240,235. That's not even half. Only those 12% got to vote for the things that all the people got to use. That's really not far. Women did not get to vote, slaves, kids, and practically no males, unless they had military training and if the parents were citizens. I mean who calls this a democracy?!
Yeah but the men could vote in favor of what would help the community. Also it can be any man who is enrolled as a citizen which you can become a citizen at age 18. So they could vote early so that adds more voters. Yeah only 12% of people can vote but at least they could vote. In other places they don't get to vote at all.
That's true but the voter has be freeborn. Also if the court decides that he has no right to be a citizen, he sold by the Athens as a Slave. Not everyone can be a voter, very little actually. The court can decide this. What if one of the members does not like you.? They can easily vote you out. Also the people can Exile you if they think you are doing your own thing. So you cant even express what you feel toward the democracy because you will get exiled?
well in the packet it says that democracy is the rule of whole of the people, excluding minors and maniacs. That would describe the Athenian democracy. Like democracy today means government by representatives of the people. Which the men are voting for. So this is a democracy.
But like i said the court may rule you out of being a citizen. The person has to be born with both parents being citizen. So this means that it can easily exclude him from being citizen.! The total population is 240,235. what if The women don't like what the men are voting on.? they cant really do anything about it because they have no power.! How can you call this a democracy with the exiling and all that.? Its basically like having one ruler which is the men.! Also a democracy is not all about voting.! This is not a democracy whatsoever.!
But you have to vote the men into the office. They could take that away but then they would just vote someone else into the government. No the democracy is not all about voting, it is about other things as well. But the defender in the court has a chance to stay a citizen. Which they could easily win
