Athletic programs are favored above academic ones, but should not be.

This is my first debate on this site, and I'm glad to try it out!

Anyway, to the argument. The fact is, I've been noticing trends throughout areas, especially in my school district, where people and the school administration tend to give more funds for the athletic department, rather then all the academic programs that exist in the school. While some programs are well funded, it seems that comparing say a football team to a debate team, the football team will always come out ahead, regardless on how well they do. In my school for example, the football team doesn't do so well. However, our speech and debate team does well at nationals, and doesn't seem to get as much obvious support as say the football team does. Is this fair? I don't think so. All programs are programs, and to give to one that's doing worse off more funds then one that's doing better, doesn't make any sense. It just shows that many people decide that sports are more important, which I believe is not true.

Again, not sure if I did this right...>.<

ok education is first ok bush and his no child behind law makes us clear of this any child that has a c or below should not be allowed to play sports i play basketball and im in early college and to meet these standards you have to have a high eye cue you take a punch at college classes in the tenth grade

Do you mean IQ? Just had to make sure.

Anyay, you're missing the complete point of my argument, which is that more funding is going to athletic programs instead of academic programs, and they get more recognition, which is not fair..

Since you inadequately responded...That's all I can say.

oh ok to me it is fair because if we all die today education is not going to make a hill of beans sports players should live life to the highest peek you would if you were a sports player or can you play any sports at all the point is tomorrow is not promised so live every day it its you last !!!!!!!!! GOD BLESS YOU

Your idea makes no sense whatsoever. It has no tie. Your latest argument talks about how people should do sports. However, people get the same joy in studying academics. However, that it not the topic at hand. The topic is the funding of sports verses academics.

Because you have inadequately responded to the topic, I can't really say anything..

I'm going basically to finish and say it was..interestng debating you. However, I believe it's unfair to give more funding to programs that bring joy to different people.

I would say something about how uiop's arguments were... nonexistent, much like his grammar (and ironically this topic is on education, no less) but I feel that it'd be like criticizing a midget for being short.

I give this round to Pro. Your arguments were good. The fact that you were redundant was because he couldn't come up with any arguments. What he needs to know is that debate is definding your position not going around saying that we should join sports. I'm on the debate team and I LOVE it. I cant play sports cause well its me. And I know how much we get from the school. And I know how much the sports teams get. Its not the same and I don't think its fair. Just because we don't through a ball or have rebel yells doesn't mean anything. And by the way if this topic was mediocre to him then he shouldn't have gone as con he shouldn't have tried at all. Cause I would have loved to debate this topic.

Oh, by the way, the only reason I used the same lines was because your arguments made NO sense whatsoever.

You're telling me. I could barely read half of what he was reading. He's sure he's on the school team? With that grammar he can't be passing his English Class.

This was ridiculous. The con wasted the pro's and everyone else's time.
