As I say in my past arguments, I would like to thank my opponent for making this debate possible. I think banks shouldn't for numerous reasons. One, how will people get their money? If banks are not legal, then how will people make loans or make deposits or withdrawals? How will people save money?

People can save their money by hiding it under their mattresses, matresses will be the new bank, and beliee it or not, they're actualy safer than banks. Infact, according to an FBI Statistic {1} the chances of getting your home robbed is 1/36, (2.77%), whereas the chances of identity theft are 9/320 {2}, (2.81%), meaning that identity theft which the banks are the medium of alone yeild a higher chance of theft. Infact, banks commit fraud regularly {3}, whereas mattreses are guarenteed never to steal your money. People can make loans from their next door neighbors matttresses.

What if your house catches on fire? Your mattress will then burn with the money under it. You will have no money and you will be poor and be a homeless person. Mattresses are flammable material and can easily catch on fire. One last thing, what if you go on vacation and leave your mattress at home? Thieves can rob your mattress and steal your money. And if you can transport it, will you stuff your mattress in your car, or on an airplane?

If your house burns up and you're like the average person, you won't have barely enough in the bank to survive anyhow, plus there's this thing called "fire insurance," and a fire- proof mattress. And if you go on vacation you can take your money out of your mattress, besides, banks are far more likely to steal your money than burgulars.

If you say that you keep your money in your mattress, then why do you talk about burglars? Also, why would you go next door and ask your neighbors for money? They most certainly will not give you money. Also, banks can give you interest, which mattresses can not do.

1) Keeping your money under the mattress is utterly non-sense because if it burns, you burn it ALL.
2) Yes banks do steal some money, but if you burn your mattress you still have money in the bank to pay for food and shelter.
3) Thinking from other perspective where banks don't exist, the burgulary rate would increase as people are going to start steal more money from the households (Easier to pick a door lack than to hack the bank's mainframe server which is common sense).
4) Banks play a major role in Globalization which means demolishing banks will defeat the purpose of Globalization.
5) The purpose of currency will be defeated because then there will be no one to judge as to which currency is higher or lower.

Don't you think without starting a debate??????

@harrytruman What happens if your house is robbed, on fire, or your friend throws out your mattress and buys you a new one?

I agree with harrytruman... In fact il go one step further and say we don't need to have money at all! Why not convert money to toilet paper.. Everybody wants there work to be rewarded... It should be an agreement between an employer & employee (no tax man required) if the people in the neibourhood agree that they need a road, I think they would be able to achieve it through co-operation rather then abandon a portion of there hard earned in hopes that it will benifit them in the long run.
