Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

Beauty- the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction to the mind, whether arising from sensory manifestations (as shape, color, sound, etc.), a meaningful design or pattern, or something else (as a personality in which high spiritual qualities are manifest). (Random House)

The attractiveness of a person is determined by their own self, and people cannot know they are wrong for saying such a thing. For example, I do not think the DDO user "Asiandebater" is attractive in any way (http://www.debate.org...) , yet I find Rachel McAdams to be extremely pretty (http://fredvidal.files.wordpress.com...).

Futhermore, as I have never met "asiandebater" before, but have seen Ms. McAdams act, I can conclude that personality has an effect on overall attractiveness of a person.

I negate the resolution, because I believe beauty is in the body of the beheld.

PRO only makes one claim, which is that "The attractiveness of a person is determined by their own self, and people cannot know they are wrong for saying such a thing."

Unfortunately, she fails to back it up. She only gives a testimony of her own attraction, which is hardly admissable considering her goal is to win this debate.

There is no justification whatsoever from PRO that 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder.'

Just add the previous two digits together to get the next digit in the sequence:

None of the proportions of my opponent's profile picture are remotely close to 1.618, the Golden Ratio.
Unfortunately for PRO, this means that she has a face not even a mother could love.

I do believe that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but not for boxxybabee's reason.

What the beholder finds appealing is internally determined by the beholder, not by any aspect of the beheld.
In most ancient and many current cultures where sufficient nutrition was/is hard to come by a fat person represents the height of beauty.
This is a culturally instilled value. We live in a culture wherein the opposite value has been "cultured" in us.
Artwork constantly demonstrates the variation in what people find attractive of not.
Some of us find beauty in "form follows function" while others see no beauty in consummate functionality at all.

I for one find boxxybabee quite attractive but asiandebater not so at all, at least not since she has so successfully interfered with any expression of her natural beauty.

So you see, if beauty arose strictly from mathematical ratios of relative size & shape, all people would at all times be in perfect agreement on what or who is beautiful. Clearly nothing could be farther from the truth.

Can a persons personality affect how we perceive them? Absolutely!
The human face is incredibly expressive. Vivaciousness, and all positive friendly mental attitudes will cause our expression to appear more positive to others and depressed or negative attitudes will put others off.
These reactions are hard wired into our brains as evolutionary survival characteristics. However, if a beholder perceives someone as pretty or as homely, they will be seen as having differing shades of attractiveness, they will not be the root causation of the beholders basic assessment as to the subjects beauty or lack thereof.
