Politicians, CEOs, and business professionals in general wear more blue.

Red shirts, red pants, red suits, are not as common.

Occasionally a red tie may be seen being worn, usually by politicians.

You will usually never see very successful business professional or politicians wear red.

Hugh Hefner wears a burgundy robe, which isnt red-red..

First of all, while red is not a common colour in suits, it is very common in small accents, such as roses, ties, and pocket hankies. A black suit with a red tie or red rose in the breast pocket speaks professional more so than a blue suit. THe atribute of appearing proffesional is not caused by commonness of an object.
