With most hate crimes being between states it is an international problem, that means the Supreme Court should handle the problem but sometimes that isn't the case. Most times they stay out of it and let the states handle it but most times it may not be settled but pushed to the side.

Thanks for starting this debate!

To begin, I will state that the supreme courts job is to decide on whether or not something is constitutional. The supreme court does not say, "yes, this is a hate crime". They don't deal with those situations. The USSC will be given a situation, say Brandenburg V. Ohio. Yes hate speech was involved, but the USSC was not there to decide wether or not what he said was hate speech, they got together to see if persecuting him for his actions would violate his constitutional rights.

Also, Hate crimes do not happen state to state. Hate crimes happen individual to individual. States cannot be victims of hate crimes because government is an entity, not a physical human being.

Thanks

The very nature of crime is backed by hate. The thief hates that someone has something he wants and is not willing to work for it. The killer hates the one he kills.Any assault is hate. Why does there have to be a special category of hate? If anyone hasn't noticed hate is everywhere. And can crop up anytime.Hate comes from fear of differences and magnifies those differences in irrational behavior.

Just because I do not want to be around certain behavior is not hate. Like homo's. I do not hate them. Just view their lifestyle as destructive .In fact , we have been hated for that position The same as the heroin addict, or the trouble maker.
