Many people would be in favor of this idea. Until you think about how it would be used. Let's assume by children you mean 5-12 years old. If you use it with a patient with cancer they may be happy playing it but then they have to come back to reality and face the truth. Yes it may improve quality of life but it also might not. You may become depressed because in virtual reality you can live a perfect life but you must come back to reality and you still are living in the hospital. And what would the virtual reality be? Games, movies , life ? This can cause children to stay in this and not do anything because if they leave they still have to deal with their life.

I would like The instigator to explain what he/she means by "virtual reality". That is a very wide definition. We all might think about different things. What exact technology do you mean?

Cancer patients want to experience the most of life. Why would they want virtual reality?

This is actually a fairly interesting topic.

Make a poll here if you want the most answers: http://www.debate.org...
Or here if you want significantly less answers with significantly longer comments: http://www.debate.org...

So you want these sick kids to put on a fairly heavy headset (heavy for a sick kid) then move his head and arms around? Also many VR games cause their own health problems like blurred vision and headaches.

Nope, leave those poor little kids alone please.

Of course it could "improve" the quality of life, but isn't it quite enough already?
