Cancer is a horrible illness caused by unregulated cell growth which claims 8 million people's lives world wide every year (13% of all deaths)

1 in 3 of us will get cancer and have to go through a grueling treatment process which can consist of chemotherapy, radiation and surgery and half will still die.

There are many types of cancer, the most common being lung, prostate and bowel cancer and the trends are that cancer rates are going to increase within the next 100 years due to people living longer.

Please vote for me if you agree cancer is a horrible ghastly disease that tears families apart and ends lives prematurely and also causes a great amount of mental and physical pain as well.

I look forward to this debate

Cancer is a wonderful disease. It acts as fast as possible to mercifully kill you in the most efficient way it knows.

Unlike AIDS or gangrene, caner is relatively kind. It is the least sadistic fatal disease there is.

Cancer isn't there to hurt you, it's curing it that hurts. Cancer can't help that it wants to spread, it can't help that it needs to replicate at a phenomenal rate within you to kill you just to survive. Cancer didn't choose to be that way any more than homosexuals choose to be gay.

Cancer has so much prejudice against it but it has no Gandhi or Mandela to speak for its people. It has no Luther King Jr. to fight for its right to exist alongside us in harmony. Cancer is forced into this fugitive, parasitic lifestyle because it has no other choice.

Why are you hating cancer just because you're a cancerphobe?

That's so out of order.

"Cancer is a wonderful disease. It acts as fast as possible to mercifully kill you in the most efficient way it knows."

Many people have cancer for years and suffer the mental pain of not knowing if they will survive, also cancer can be painful, Wikipedia states: "about half of all patients with malignant cancer are experiencing pain, more than a third of them experience moderate or severe pain that diminishes their quality of life"
Cancer is not kind at all, it uncontrollably spreads until it has taken over the host and can lead to symptoms such as multiple organ failure and affect the body's delicate chemical balance.

"Cancer isn't there to hurt you, it's curing it that hurts"

Whether or not cancer intentionally hurts you is irrelevant, the fact is that it does hurt a person very much both mentally and physically.

"Cancer didn't choose to be that way any more than homosexuals choose to be gay"

You can't compare a disease to sentiment living beings, in this case humans.

"Cancer has so much prejudice against it but it has no Gandhi or Mandela to speak for its people. It has no Luther King Jr. to fight for its right to exist alongside us in harmony. Cancer is forced into this fugitive, parasitic lifestyle because it has no other choice."

This is because there are no redeeming features whatsoever about cancer whereas Gandhi and Mandela were fighting for noble causes.

So you're arguing a truism? The only way someone disagrees with this is if they view more death as a net benefit.
