I think they are better pets than dogs because they are lower maintenance .they clean themselves by licking themselves and also you don't have to let them out to use a toilet because they can use a litter box
Arthurblue3

Con

I think dogs are superior pets. They come in lots of different sizes and shapes. E.g bulldogs, poodles and jack russells. They can also be trained to do certain commands such as sit, roll over, and fetch your slippers and newspapers. They have more loyalty to their owners than a cat and they lavish you with affection and love rather than waiting for you to come home and feed them. There are also hypo-allergenic dogs like shih tzu's and schnauzers for those with allergies.

Cats are better behaved when guest come over because they don't hump the guest leg or scratch it till it bleeds, though they will come over to be petted. They also don't require walking everyday to the park and they won't bolt off if you open the gate.

Con

Once again I you can train your dog to sit so you don't have to worry about you leg being scratched. In response to you saying a dog would run off if it had the chance, I have to concur. A dog is about training it and moulding it to be a model dog that obeys your commands. Yes they can be a bit work but it does pay off. On another subject, exercise. At least you get the choice to play fetch with your dog. And it's not that bad walking them in my opinion. It can be quite nice just having a stroll thorugh the park.when you come home from work or school a dog will jump up and lick you whilst a cat will just sit there in the same spot you found it.

At a night time when your asleep a cat won't bark at 3 in the morning or at postmen.a cat is more well behaved than a dog for this reason.
Arthurblue3

Con

a dog won't bring hundreds of other neighbourhood dogs and jump on you car or destroy your flowers. Secondly a you can train your dog to be quiet. Lots of people have trained their dogs to stop barking at a night time or day. on a new subject, they are also very good with children. They are very protective of them and wouldn't let anyone hurt them. They can also be very patient with children pulling ears and tails and also hitting.

Reasons for voting decision: One of Pro's first arguments was that cats are low-maintenance animals. Con's answer to the difficulties and obnoxiousness of dogs was training. He repeated that over and over, confirming Pro's original argument about cats being low-maintenance. You don't have to train a cat to keep it from humping your guests' legs, you don't have to train a cat to use a litter box, etc. Obviously, cats make better pets, and Pro's arguments were compelling. What Con seemed to think was a plus for dogs struck me as being a minus for dogs, so arguments to Pro.

Reasons for voting decision: Not all dogs bark at postmen. Con made more convincing arguments and Pro and Con sometimes forgot to capitalize the beginning of their sentences. I saw no sources used on this debate. Conduct was tied. Other than that, interesting debate.
