With an abundance of technology nowadays, should we be allowed to use it during school hours?
natebent412

Con

I would like to post my first argument. No, cell phone use should not be allowed in schools.

They are distracting and are a large impediment to the learning, development, and focus of students today.

Sure, it's a disruption, I get that. But when you take a step back, there's a lot of educational apps out in the wolrd, such as Stemscopes, Google Drive, Docs, Slides, iAmerica, and Remind101.

Con

Yes, I agree that those are very educational and helpful apps. However, the use of those applications on a cell phone is rather cumbersome, and allows to much temptation or opportunity for students to text or use snap chat or other distracting applications.

I think that all school should provide their students with laptops, instead of cell phones.

I am in a school that uses iPads for educational purposes, and every day, I get infuriated with the amount of unnecessary apps and graffiti on them. Also, there has been a number of incidents where kids have gone on to other students' gmail and such. My own email was hijacked once, and inappropriate emails were sent to some of my best friends. If we brought our own, that would never happen.

Another issue with the iPads is that many of them have only select apps on them. For example, some days I'm lucky if the iPad I'm using has Prezi or Docs.

If we brought our own devices, such as phones, this won't be a problem.
