So, first off, chess is a very good mind game. Its stimulates your mind to concentrate and to be able to have good critical thinking skills.

Chess should not be a requirement in public schooling. No game should be a requirement in school. These activities should be available, but not forced on the children. If the children choose the activity on their own, they are more likely to enjoy and be involved in the activity. By forcing chess on the children, you limit their ability to explore their own interests. I believe that video games are much better for critical thinking, and they also train hand-eye coordination and reflexes.

I like chess but being graded on that would seem rough to beginners is mean. I don't think it should be mandatory to take.

Reasons for voting decision: Short and sweet, eh? OK, well I was with Con both before and now. Conduct was not good, but still tied. Spelling and grammar are fine. Con gave better arguments and also gave counter-arguments which went 100% unchallenged. No sources were used.
