I saw that coming, because as we all know, chess would be the easier side to be with :D. So I guess I am in favour of checkers.

So before we begin, we must understand what both games are, and what better really means.

DEFINITIONS:

better: " Greater in excellence or higher in quality." [1]

checkers: "A game played on a checkerboard by two players, each using 12 pieces." [2]

chess: "A board game for two players, each beginning with 16 pieces of six kinds that are moved according to individual rules, with the objective of checkmating the opposing king." [3]

FURTHER EXPLANATION:

So now we know what all 3 things mean. I will now further explain both games. Checkers has 12 pieces, and the objective is to capture all opposing pieces. This will be achieved by jumping over an opposing piece. Pieces can only move diagonally.
If your piece makes it to your opponent's side of the board, that piece can move both backwards and forwards. [4]

Chess is a game with a specific set-up, with the objective being to capture the opposing king. This will be achieved by trapping him with pieces that move specifically. Once the king is trapped, you win. [5]

ARGUMENTS:

First of all, as we all understand, chess is more complex. It has various pieces that do various things. In checkers, all pieces do the same, making it much less complex. Saying such, checkers is easier, and more appropriate for all ages, making it superior to chess.

Secondly, in checkers, you need to get rid of all of the opposing pieces, not just one. Because of such, you need to think more about how you will move, because you need to capture opposing pieces, while protecting your own. Saying that, checkers is better than chess when it comes to sacrifice and planning.

Thirdly, checkers is older. Surprising isn't it? If you look into the old era of checkers, you can see that the original version took place in Egypt in 3600 B.C. Chess only came around in the 6th century. [4] [5]

Your turn :D

trapping the king gives a stalemate, which is actually a draw.

trapping AND checking the king is neccesary for the win.

Reasons for voting decision: Pro had more convincing arguments, since he is the only one with an argument in the first place. He had superior grammar, and more reliable sources, since he is the only who displayed a source. And he gets points for conduct because of the forfeits.
