Resolved: On balance, The Supreme Court decision in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission harms the election process. Pro must begin arguing in round 1, and will forfeit round 4 in order to keep it even. Burden of proof is on pro. I will not be posting arguments of my own. Upon request in comments, this can be made into a 5 round debate. Additionally, while I set the time to argue to 72 hours, I would prefer that my opponent operate as quickly as possible. I will be attending a tournament on the 16th, and would have to forfeit if the debate lasts that long. Rules: Definitions/RA/Framework is open. No plan advocacy. No semantics/lawyering/etc. Forfeit in any round is an automatic loss unless a mutual agreement can be reached. No new arguments can be made in the final round in which you argue. No arguing in comments over rfds. srsly I set this debate so it can only be accepted by someone ranked as good or better than me (which isn't hard, lol). If you can't accept, post in comments. Upon review of the Supreme Courts Ruling, I hereby accept your debate challenge Mr. Walrus. As the Supreme Court's ruling is (for now) the law of the land, I note that you have taken on quite a daunting task in meeting the level of BOP (burden of proof), reasonably expected to overturn a Supreme Court ruling. Strangely enough, I feel that I can empathize with your situation. Here's too a well spirited and informative debate. |

My opponent and I are actually on the same side of this issue. That being said, we mutually request a tie for this debate. |

As much as I am enjoying this exchange so far, it's time to see what my opponent has to say in the next round! |

This has been, by far, the most informative debate I have done as of yet. I thank Chuz-Life for the opportunity to engage in this meaningful discussion. Remember: Vote tie (so, preferably don't vote) |

Reasons for voting decision: Voting Tie!

(same said?) Ugh...
Darn, I was anxious to defend the Court's decision too.
A tie it is. My apologies.
Before I post my round, though, are you aware that you are pro for the resolution? I will be arguing in favor of the ruling, while you will be arguing against. If you misinterpreted this, we can just ignore the debate and take a tie.
