Civil unions are not depriving the symbol of marriage because gay unions is not exactly marriage.
Sure, you can call it gay marriage, but at the end of the day, it's just two gay guys looking for an excuse to have marriage benefits (like stuff that gives stuff to your spouse, etc.) and sex at the same time.
By the way, it's not even good sex; who want's a stick shoved up their butt repeatedly?

I agree with GAF, I am not even sure what this is about. The opening statement is talking about marriage and types of marriage. Yet you do not define marriage so there is no position.

How about you tell us your position and make it clearer Pro?

I didn't want to accept the debate because I wasn't sure if I got it right. but if I am correct your question has little to nothing to do with varying cultures, I mean the question is weather or not calling it civil union would make it less gratifying to the gay couples not whether or not the definition is correct to only be that between only a man and a women. To the debate I would say that no it wouldn't deprive the symbol of marriage because, well my example would be that, women don't want to be referred to as men just so that they can be seen as equal. so why would it matter if there was a slightly different term for something that is slightly different?
