I think common core shouldn't exist, it would be good to equalize the education system in the state so everyone learns the same thing but there is no need for a new education program and common core changed to much of the old teaching ways.
See, what makes the Common Core standards good, is that it gives everyone a guideline to learn off of. It shows who will and won't do their work. This makes college, jobs, and other applications easier to know who did what best and the most. It truly shows who gives off their best effort and deserves to go to such-and-such college more than someone else where the person who did the same thing better and the best wins. Because in this environment now, competition is fierce on college, jobs, etc. It will show the best workers. Also it will make more reliable, experienced people do jobs instead of incapable people who refuse to put forth their best effort.
I understand your point, and that is a very important thing when considering education, but the Common Core Standard change the learning procedure so much it is very hard for a student to use the skills they learned last year, because of the new standards. Teachers now have to take separate classes so they can teach the students. Students now also have to take extra tests at the end of the year, just because of common core.
