This is a rematch between larztheloser and I for the composition contest we had:

http://www.debate.org...

The rules will be pretty much the same, and here they are:

In the first round, larz should give me a theme to work off of. We'll then give each other our themes in each round. Compositions must abide by the themes, to help assure that each one is made from scratch. Our entries should be no less than 1:30, and should be embedded to the page from YouTube. Any style is permitted, but only midi sequenced recordings should be used.

Voters should rate whoever they consider to be the winner on a scale of 1-7.

Alright, good luck (again).

Sure, why not. Only two rounds this time so this should be shorter and sweeter.

Your theme is horror.

I had a bit of fun with this one.

Your theme is pretty much the opposite of horror: Comedy.

Con

Great song pro.

Your last theme is also my favourite fruit - "Bananas".

Unfortunately I couldn't finish this one, and since I'm going to bed now I'll have to post what I've got.

Your theme is inchworms.

Con

Inchworms are boring. Have the epic adventures of an inchworm instead!

Thanks for a fun competition pro and good luck with the votes.

I don't think anybody would suspect cheating. As the competitor, its understandable that you may fear that, but I as the audience never once imagined illegitimate play, I don't believe anyone else would either.

BTW if anyone wants my midis to verify that I didn't cheat, message me.

Anvil Studio and Synthfont are the two I use most. I don't have money for software - I'm saving up to buy a keyboard (makes it way easier).

The next time I see somebody eating a banana, I'll run up behind them with a tape deck and start playing that song.

Reasons for voting decision: It is most certainly difficult to judge this debate without an objective standard to refer to. So I will avoid saying 'better' without saying why it was better, to start, Pro demonstrated what a good haunting piece was like. The rain and thunder set the environment in the mind of the listener which made the music all the more better, a great idea. Regardless of great ideas though, Larz was evidently the superior musician, his first piece for comedy was most certainly an eye-opener with unique combinations of instruments you wouldn't hear anywhere else balanced precisely to achieve the overall picture of something quirky and hilarious. Pros banana song was quite simple, with a good tune but not much else, and the finale of this debate from Larz was truly spectacular. The complexity of the melodies and underlying instruments woven together to create the song was utterly admirable. Well done to both debaters.
