In my opinion, console games are greater in nearly every aspect than computer games. Today much of the advantages of a computer are available on the xbox, ps3, or even the wii. If your soul purpose is gaming then consoles are the way to go. Its so much cheaper to buy a $250 PS3, over an $800 laptop. Its simply not economic.
Computer games and computers are much better in general than noob friendly consoles. The skill cap of most computer games is much higher than console due to the much larger use of controls and macros. Because of this computer games are able to have much deeper gameplay than the stale 10 button console controller. Computer graphics are also much better than console because of the much faster processing speed in their GPU. Console games have generally a much worse storyline as well, focusing more on the boring, repetitive multiplayer aspect like games such as Battlefield or COD.
While PCs can be more expensive than consoles, you aren't only paying for a gaming machine, you also are able to do many other things on a computer that can enhance the gaming experience. You also don't have to pay the $60/year fee that XBOX charges. Consoles are also much more liable to break and much harder to fix, while a computer you can just replace a broken part easily. Emulators are also available on the PC, which allows you to play virtually any game on any console, except maybe the newer XBOXs and Playstations. There are many more games on the computer, since you can access any site online that has a game while a console is limited to whatever you buy on a disc.
