First off, thanks for accepting my first debate. I look forward to seeing the viewpoint of whoever chooses to stand against me.

I am very much of the belief that countries who get involved in wars in which the displacement of civilians on a massive scale is inevitable, should have the decency to provide for the people they have displaced.

They have enough money to create bombs and bullets, to buy warplanes and artillery and to send this mass of death-dealing hardware halfway round the world. Surely then, they have enough money to help those they have displaced?

Your contention is irrational. Countries cannot reasonably be expected to take responsibility for war refugees . . . just like they cannot be expected to rebuild every building they raze. War is destructive. That's the whole point.

If Country A cared about the welfare of Country B's citizens, Country A wouldn't invade their land, kill them, destroy their neighbourhoods, make their environment dangerous and inhabitable, and leave the civilians displaced. Any country that feels morally obligated to take care of war refugees wouldn't CREATE war refugees in the first place.

So, in conclusion: saying "countries involved in war should take responsibility for the refugees their war has created" is like saying "bank robbers ought to pay back the money they stole from the bank." Sure? I guess it would be nice if they did? But it's a silly thing to expect.

It is ridiculous to expect countries involved in war to take responsibility for the refugees their war has created. This is a nice idealistic thought, and that's it.

7 point to Con. Reasons for voting decision: Pro had no content what so ever and gave up. Easy decision.

Reasons for voting decision: Pro ff so Conduct to Con. Con's argument is that countries wouldn't do it. But thats not what the debate is about. Its whether they should do it, in which Con concedes this fact. So Pro wins arguments
