Courts have no right to decide to whether what school students go to. A black student would not want to go to a white school knowing they'll get bullied. The whites will try to bully or scare the blacks kids. The blacks kids just want the same education that the whites have. There will riots because parents will disagree and not want their child to get hurt.

Pro

evidence 1: In Boston about 400 low income black students were bused to white community schools.
evidence 2: In 1969 the racial imbalance act was passed in Boston to desegregate schools

Affirmitive assertion #2 Students benefit attending racially diverse schools
evidence 1: In the real world it is important to understand the importance of diversity
evidence 2: In racially diverse schools students tend to perform better academically
evidence 3: In diverse schools, no ethnic group is more powerful.

Affirmitive assertion #3 New plan introduced would sen students back to neighborhood schools
evidence 1: New plan that was introduced will allow students to attend neighborhood schools again

evidence 3: The judeg's plan required students to leave their neighborhoods.

1. You say students could benefit, but don't you think certain races will get bullied if they go to a diverse schoool ?
2. Do you agree with the new plan to send students to neighborhood schools ?
3. How do you think the students will feel about the judge picking what school they go to ?

Pro

1. In a school where the student population is more varied, no race group will be more powerful than another.
2. No, the new plan that was introduced will allow students to attend neighborhood schools once again. This will create more segregation and imbalance in Boston schools.
3. Students at first may feel that the judge's decision to assign which school they attend is unjustified, but the court is only trying to create a more diverse school system.

Con

1. Communities can combat discrimination because they can get their voices heard.
2. Neighborhood schools can benefit because they can get their rights They can get the right to put their child in any school they want.
3. I think the new plan will create segregation but it will cause some problems because some students might not agree with the new plan.

Rebuttal
Courts do have the right to decide where students go to school... If there is a huge imbalance in the school system, Courts should have the right to balance the schools and make sure all students are getting an equal education.

Black kids will get bullied.. If a school is balanced equally then there would not be any power issues among different race groups.

And a reply to the previous commenter: All my students used the same sources that I provided so I didn't have them cite...most information came from Eyes on the Prize.

Not going to participate in evaluating this debate without sources. You guys could cite anything as "evidence" making a debate on this subject pointless.

Otherwise it had the potential to be interesting.
