Milk is an animal product. Many people may argue that in the production of milk there is no killing of animal, and while drinking it, there is no consumption of meat...and they would be right. But, if you say that only when an animal is killed during its production that it is truly non-veg, then why is Egg considered Non-Veg??? The eggs we eat will not produce chicks, thus not killing any animals. The dictionary defines Vegetarians as people who abstain from eating meat products, THOUGH not often Milk and Eggs. The simple presence of THOUGH indicates that there is still doubt that milk and eggs are neither veg or non-veg. But anything that is not Veg is Non- Veg. Its that simple.

Ovo-lacto vegetarians..( as per your definition, and i guess Wikipedia's) is vegetarians who decide to drink milk and eat eggs. If its really veg. then why the special classification???

Vegans do not use any animal products particularly in their diet. You guys are confusing vegans with ovo-lacto vegetarians, which are vegetarians that decide to eat eggs and consume milk.

The difference between mammal milk and milk substitutes are for one, lactose and the passing on of antibiotics and antibodies. That is why it is critical for mothers to feed their newborn their milk, because the mother's milk is protecting the non-immunized child from common illnesses.
