Cranberry sauce is more often eaten together with other foods, rather than by itself.

False. A condiment is a substance or seasoning that you put on or in your food to add flavor or enhance the flavor. Cranberry sauce is not mixed into your food. It is eaten by its self therefore it is a side dish. If this were your argument then you should also consider mashed potatoes a condiment because they are almost always paired with a meal and some people do mix them with other foods, but because that is not their intention nor their popular use they are considered a side dish as well.
