Con

The requirement of having completed three debates in order to vote is excessive. One completed debate and the text confirmation should be sufficient.

Considering that the average debate takes a week or more to conclude, the integrity of the voting process would not be excessively degraded by lessening the voting requirements.

Pro

DDO should have 3 debates, and possibly more

C1) It stops people from doing what you are doing

That is spamming 1 round debates to earn voting privileges.

C2) It limits multi accounting

It makes it more difficult on people if they try and cheat and vote for themselves.

C3) It gets people adjusted to the site, teaches them how to debate, and gives them time to understand how to vote according to site regulations

This speaks for itself.

Ending

DDO should keep it he way it is.

The purpose of the rule is to cut down on trolling, whatever that is. That is also one of the reason given for making the first round for acceptance and rules, which was never intended by DDO, but evolved; which does not work. Many debaters use the first round for acceptance and rules, and the other person accepts, and then the debate instigator who set the rules in first round post all his arguments and evidence in the second round only to have the "troll" forfeit. So wasting the first round for acceptance and rules accomplishes nothing.

What is a troll. I am accused of being a troll. But, I am not. I just find that so many debates at this site are just plain stupid, so I vote on many.

I find that many debaters are not honest and plagiarize most of what they post without quoting the sources. I love to vote against those people.

Anyway, the three debate rule seems to have no value whatsoever.

Actually winning debates at this site or any debate site that does not use professional judges proves nothing but confirmation bias.

I've done more than 3, I still cannot vote due to month long voting periods. Even though im losing this debate, you still aided my purpose. So thank you.

Reasons for voting decision: Mikal easily wins this by showing that a debate can be completed in less than an hour, assuming it is one round and your opponent replies quickly. The system was terrible prior to the 3 vote requirement because people who did not understand how to vote unbiasedly on the site would just vote their opinions. If anything, the risk is higher now (with confusion over the opinion section).
