I personally prefer daedric armour, as according to the Elder Scrolls Wiki, it has an armour base rating of '144', whereas dragonscale armour only has a base rating of '111', much lower presumably due to the fact it is only light armour. Daedric armour is also considered to be the best/most efficient armour in the game. You may have had different perks/enchantments to alter the armour base rating of either sets, which is possibly why daedric armour may have appeared to have less base armour than dragonscale armour in game.
Daedric armour (a full set) is also worth a considerably larger amount of gold than dragonscale, the base value being about 7650 septims, compared to 3600 septims.
Finally, I prefer the look of daedric armour to dragonscale due to its demonic appearance and nature (it has a slim chance of scaring away anyone who encounters you), but that is just preference based on the appearance, and doesn't dictate which armour would be more efficient in game.
Daedric armour isn't that rare if you have a high enough Smithing level to craft it, and daedric armour would be extremely useful for most players, especially ones who are most comfortable in combat-orientated gameplay. Also after level 40 daedric armour becomes increasingly more common to find in the open world.
