I saw you debate on a death battles so Ill challenge you to one! Rules are simple:
1) The character must be vulernable to normal attacks aka no superman
2) Your character cannot be immortal.
3) You can only choose 1 character
4) No trolling of any sort
5) No changing info until Round 5. So if you choose say goku and then say its goku black that will not count
6) Forfeiting counts as an instant loss.
7) The fight will take place on a large island, no preparation, morals off, and bloodlust on.
8) No outside help
9) We will be discussing 5 Stats; Strength, Agility, Durability, Abilities, and Feats
10) Your character must already exist. No creating your own character for this fight.
11) You must give some background before starting.

MY BIGGEST RULE THOUGH NO SAITAMA.

Stats:

Strength: How much damage the character can deal.

Agility: How fast and nimble the character is.

Durability: How much damage your character can take.

Abilities: Casting magic, teleportation, etc.

Feats: Has he done anything noteworthy?

I'll be choosing Gaara of the sand waterfall from the naruto franchise

I accept this challenge. Like in my other battles, Okami's Amaterasu is going to fight. And fitting that Ammy's fighting a master of the one element she can't control; earth/ground. I look forward to a good, clean fight. (Also, both Naruto and Okami are based on Japanese folklore, so we're going to have a nice one)

Gaara will not have access to shukaku as he was removed

Background:
Because of heavy cuts to Sunakure"s budget, the Fourth kazekage , wanted to make one of his children the jinchuriki of shukaku to serve as a weapon for the village. [10] His first two children, Temari and then Kankur!3; , had not been compatible with Shukaku. Rasa's third child, who would become Gaara, was compatible, and for that reason Shukaku was sealed into him by Chiyo while he was still in his mother's womb. Gaara ended up being born prematurely and, from the ordeals of childbirth, his mother, Karura , died. Before dying, Karura looked lovingly at Gaara's small form and vowed to always protect him.
Gaara was raised in isolation during his early life, taught ninjutsu by his father and cared for his maternal uncle, Yashamaru . When he was allowed to roam around the village, Gaara would try to connect with the villagers, being kind to them and offering them any assistance he could. However, being a jinch$3;riki made the villagers frightened of Gaara; Adults avoided him and, when they could not, treated him delicately while children would run from him on sight. Gaara would try to assure them he meant harm, but in the process he would inadvertently injure them or even kill them with his sand . Gaara did not understand this pain and caused others because his sand protected him from all injury. When he was six years old, Gaara asked Yashamaru to explain pain to him. From Yashamaru's explanation, Gaara believed he did know pain: the unbearable agony in his heart.
From this, Yashamaru elaborated that physical pain, what causes one to bleed, could be cured with medicine and time, whereas pain of the heart, like Gaara experienced, could only be cured with love. Gaara, said Yashamaru, received love everyday, from both his mother - whose spirit controlled the sand that protected him - and from Yashamaru himself. Gaara was pleased by this and went out into the village to show some love to those he'd harmed, but his efforts were met with more fear and hate. Gaara was dismayed and went off to try and understand why he was treated as a monster. While doing so, he was attacked by one of Suna's Anbu , who was fatally wounded with his sand. When he unmasked the Anbu, Gaara discovered it was Yashamaru.
Gaara was devastated that Yashamaru, the only living person to love him, would try to kill him and asked for an explanation. Yashamaru replied that it was a mission given to him by Rasa, Gaara's father, it being decided by the Suna Council that Gaara was a failed experiment that, if allowed to live, would only continue to harm the village and its people. Gaara tried to find solace in the fact that Yashamaru had been ordered to kill him, but Yashamaru insisted, lying to Gaara, that he had volunteered and that he'd always hated Gaara for causing Karura's death. Karura had not loved Gaara either, and named him after the phrase "a self-loving carnage"so that he would be a curse upon Suna for what he had done to her. With his explanation done, Yashamaru asked Gaara to "please die" before blowing himself up with explosive tags .
Gaara's sand shielded Gaara from the blast. Having lost everything he cared for, Gaara decided that he would from that point forward live up to his namesake by loving only himself. Overwhelmed with grief, Gaara transformed into Shukaku and attacked Suna, which Rasa stopped with his gold dust . Rasa would arrange five other assassination attempts on Gaara over the following years, all of which Gaara evidently survived. Due to his singular focus on himself, Gaara eventually learned to reign in his powers and became the lethal weapon of destruction Suna wanted him to be, prompting Rasa to stop trying to kill him and instead find a use for him.
This was until the chunin exams where naruto uzamaki defeated him and showed him the error of his ways. Gaara would go on to become the kazekage, Have shukaku removed, and be the general of the allied shinobi forces.

Strength: Gaara in his own right is above the strength of a peak human being, we have not seen his use of physical strength that much. we have however seen gear pick a human up by the throat when he was a child id estimate Gaara"s physical strength around 3000 to 11000 pounds. remember Estimates

Agility: Gaara"s agility and speed should be around at least hypersonic as he was able to dodge Kinshiki's projectiles as well as being able to keep up with shira in h2h combat a being who is capable of going toe to toe with rock lee

Durability: Gaara is incredibly durable and highly resistant to pain. this is shown many times such as when he was dominated against a 5th gate rock lee and still managed to stand up and almost kill rock lee. Other times its shown is when he had shukaku extracted although it did kill him. Not to mention the many assassination attempt on his life as a child. Gaara"s durability is increased by many times when he uses his sand armor. sand armor makes him near resistant to basic physical attacks. not to mention his sand which protects Gaara at all times.

Abilities: Gaara"s abilities include sand manipulation and Magnet release.
These are some noticeable attacks and abilities of gaara"s as listed by the vs wiki
`42;Desert Layered Imperial Funeral: Using a large quantity of sand, Gaara covers the enemy with several successive layers of the material, before compressing it into the form of a huge pyramid which acts to imprison the target upon its completion.
`42;Prison Sand Burial: Gaara using his ability to manipulate sand, loosens the ground below his enemy and catches them in a maelstrom of sand. The swallowed enemy sinks up to two hundred meters underground, while completely unable to move a muscle.
`42;Sand Clone: Gaara uses a clone of sand.
`42;Sand Waterfall Funeral: After wrapping an opponent with sand with either Sand Binding Coffin or Sand Drizzle, Gaara will cause the sand to implode and crush whatever is within it.
`42;Sand Waterfall Imperial Funeral: This technique is a specialty of Gaara, where he makes the land a stage for his representation.
`42;Quicksand Waterfall Flow: This technique creates a massive amount of sand in the form of a wave, covering and "drowning" the opponent in an ocean of sand. From the sand Gaara carries in his gourd, he grinds the rocks and minerals from underground into a large sea of sand and manipulates it like tsunami that engulfs absolutely everything in his line of sight.
`42;Shield of Sand: A technique that is unique to Gaara. Whenever Gaara is about to be harmed, a shield of sand will automatically surround and protect him. The sand will react regardless of Gaara's will, even protecting him from self-inflicted injuries.

i will list feats next round

It's alright. Except I know Gaara is very powerful, and definitely a worthy opponent. Again, my character is Okami Amaterasu, the Goddess of the Sun of Capcom's Okami. I'll start with an overview of Okami's story, as not many people know about it.

Backstory:

100 years prior to Okami's events, Yamata no Orochi, an 8 headed dragon, ruled tyranny over the land of Nippon. There was a rule where if the dreaded white tipped arrow hits your house, usually a maiden's, Orochi has chosen you to feast upon as a sacrifice. The legendary warrior Nagi had enough of this, and attempted to slay him. It was a bloody battle, but Orochi was too much. That was when Shiranui, a white wolf who watched over the town of Kamiki, Nagi's home village, had appeared to save Nagi. Shiranui and Nagi eventually defeated Orochi, and sealed him away at the Moon Shrine.

Back to the present, the descendant of Nagi, Susano, unleashed Orochi by pulling the sword imprisoning him. Apparently he doubted the tales. Anyways, Orochi recursed Nippon, and in an attempt to rid this curse, the wood sprite Sakuya awakened Shiranui from her stone slumber, now known as Amaterasu. On a search for the 12 Celestial Brush techniques Amaterasu lost during those 100 years, she went on a journey with her new friend, Issun the Wandering Artist (Which Issun is half an inch tall). Along the way, Ammy slew Orochi, and eventually fought against the strongest evil of all; Yami.

I won't go into extensive detail about the events of Okami, but it involves slaying demons, some witty dialogue, and drawing symbols using the Celestial Brush to get stuff.

Now that you know who Amaterasu, the white wolf Sun Goddess, is, here's her stats.

Argument:

Strength; Under the training of Onigiri Sensei, Amaterasu has trained to where she's able to break rock, iron, and diamond by tackling them, after training for the Hardhead skill. She can also dig through stone after the Digging Champ training. However, Amaterasu's main methods of attack are Divine Instruments and the Celestial Brush. More on those later.

Agility; Amaterasu is capable of wall jumps and double jumps, though if Amaterasu double jumps, she is unable to wall jump, and vice versa. The Fleetfoot skill allows Amaterasu to sidestep out of an opponent's attack, though not incredibly fast. Amaterasu runs at a decent speed, though I can't calculate how fast this is. I'd say she's as fast as a real wolf. If she needs to, Amaterasu can use the Veil of Mist Celestial Brush technique to slow down time by half temporarily.

Durability; Amaterasu hasn't been shown of incredible durability feats, but she has survived numerous different attacks, such as swords, fire, ice, lightning, and some miscellaneous things. She also has the astral pouch, which revives her, assuming she has at least 200 food in it, or a Gold Peach, which instantly fills it. The Astral Pouch can contain up to 200 points worth of food for this match. [I know Gaara is tough, so the Astral Pouch might help keep things even.]

Equipment; Divine Instruments: Amaterasu has many different Divine Instruments, or weapons, which fall into 3 categories: Reflectors, Rosaries, and Glaives.

Reflectors are the most basic out of the 3. Reflectors allow for decent combos, and, if Amaterasu times it right, she can pull off a counter attack.

Rosaries are long ranged and hit multiple times per strike. They can also be launched as projectiles if need be. The Tundra Beads deal Ice damage.

Glaives are slow, but deal decent damage. They can be charged up for a stronger strike, which is stronger than a hit from Reflectors. The Thunder Edge deals electric damage.

Abilities; Celestial Brush:

Amaterasu is one of the few beings capable of wielding the Celestial Brush. It's an ability that stops movement for all, including the user, while the user draws a symbol. Well, think of it like your body can't move, but your soul is the one using it. The Celestial Brush does run on Divine Ink, which does regenerate at a pretty good pace, but can still run out. Of course, Ammy isn't one to spam the Celestial Brush. Here are all 13 of the Celestial Brush techniques:

Power Slash: The most basic of the techniques, the Power Slash can cut through iron and diamond. As the Celestial Brush is instant, there's no dodging this. Or any Brush techniques.

Cherry Bomb: It's not anything like a cherry, but it is explosive, doing considerable damage, and can destroy cracked walls.

Galestorm: Amaterasu can create wind in pretty much any direction, except vertical. She can also create a hurricane if she needs the wind to attack the opponent.

Waterspout: Amaterasu can create a stream of water from an already existing source, as well as make it rain.

Inferno: Amaterasu can create fire in an infinity shape, or make a stream from an already existing source.

Blizzard: Can create a storm of ice, or a stream from an already existing source, such as the Tundra Beads.

Thunderstorm: Can create lightning, or creating a stream of electricity from an already existing source, such as the Thunder Edge.

Veil of Mist: Can slow time by half for a short period of time. Useful for avoiding attacks, as well as keeping up with the opponent on occasion.

Here are all the other techniques that are useless in a battle:

Greenspout: Amaterasu can make trees bloom, though not effective in combat. If there's a konohana blossom, Amaterasu can use the Vine technique to draw herself towards it, though I doubt there would be any in this fight.

Sunrise and Crescent: Can make it day or night. Not helping at all.

Catwalk: Assuming there's a statue of Kabegami, the deity of this power, Amaterasu can make a wall climbable by drawing a trail from the statue to her destination. No climbing today, though.

Rejuvination: Amaterasu can fix broken objects. But it doesn't fix broken bones.

Feats:

Has caught up the Hayate multiple times, who is very fast as a mailman.

Has spun an entre galaxy using the Celestial Brush.

Has defeated Yami. This was a very close match, with Amaterasu having to rely on the faith of everybody in Nippon to get stronger.

Has gotten into Marvel vs Capcom 3. Might as well mention this.

Conclusion:

Amaterasu is pretty powerful, but honestly, it's going to be a tough match. The whole reason why Toph beat Gaara was because she could control stone and metal.

I believe Gaara will win against the opponent for a the main reason being his sand which i will now list the stats and feats of his sand

Attack potency: Gaara"s Sand is Potent enough to actually bury an entire city with ease. Gaara can actually change the land scape to his liking with sand as well as form weapons and use other elements with his sand (usually lightning)
Gaara can also end a fight very quickly if he manages to get some sand into the opponents body, From there he can either kill them or control them like a puppet much like blood bending from Avatar

Agility: Gaara"s sand"s agility and speed is massive as it was able to block one of the fastest attacks if not the fastest attack aka Amaterasu as well as being able to keep up with the Raikage a being who is almost as fast as Minato. Its also worth mentioning that he can make his sand become much faster if he chooses to use wind release but this does require chakra

Durability: Gaara sand is incredibly durable and highly resistant. this is shown many times. Although the most incredible would be when he stopped dozens of meteors effortlessly. Gaara"s sand no longer has its previous weaknesses as he added his fathers gold dust to it making it nearly impenetrable. This can also be said about his sand armor

Abilities: When Gaara is in serious danger his sand takes the shape of his mother making it much harder to even touch him. Gaara"s sand can also form the impenetrable defense which is a large dome that forms around Gaara that is not only nearly impenetrable but allows Gaara to keep attacking and see with the eye of sand and should they get to close spikes will shoot out of the dome. The only thing shown to break this is the lightning style"s chidori which is now rendered useless as there is metal in the sand, this is do to magnet release which allows one to control various types of metal. Should Gaara manage to grab his enemy with his sand he can easily crush them, encase them in solid gold rendering them unable to move and unable to breath, or bury them many miles below the earths surface where they will remain.

Overall Gaara is incredibly intelligent and powerful with his abilities to control sand and metal, not to mention hard to hurt and so thats why i believe he can take down Amaterasu

Sorry for the long delay. Without any further delays, here's my rebuttal.

Rebuttal:

Gaara is powerful, sure. But he has a few weaknesses. His sand manupulation relies on his chakra, meaning Gaara will continue to grow weaker, possibly enough so that Amaterasu could do some damage. Also, if Gaara'a sand gets covered in oil, it makes it hard to control. Throughout Okami, we're shown that the Celestial Brush can cover people in ink, as well as draw on paper. It's possible that Amaterasu can nullify the sand altogether by putting ink into it.

So Amaterasu could beat Gaara, theoretically. I don't know if Amaterasu would think to do this, though.

I would like to point out that the only time we see sand being slowed down is when Gaara is using ground sand and not his gourd sand which we have no idea how it would react as apposed to the sand he creates from the ground. Although this may not be a good remark on my part but there is some evidence. This could include the speed as ground sand is much slower than the gourd sand and the gourd sand has the ability to stop Amaterasu which has been shown to burn the ground to nothing. This also brings me to another point i wanted to make earlier in the debate my opponent claim Gaara"s sand uses chakra. Which in some aspects your right but only with ground sand as it"s stated in shippuden that Gaara"s Gourd sand was made by his mothers chakra so therefore requires none of Gaara"s and thus can be used endlessly. Also lets say that the sand does get rendered useless by said characters ink, Gaara inherited his family"s kekkai genkai allowing full control over the gold dust which he did keep after defeating his father and carries with him. The abilities of the gold dust include many many times faster then his sand but also not as durable, Gold sand also can not be slowed by oil and other such things. I await my opponent reply.

My Round 3 wasn't very good either. Time for the Cross Examination.

Rebuttal:

"[Difference between gouard sand and ground sand] could include the speed as ground sand is much slower than the gourd sand and the gourd sand has the ability to stop Amaterasu which has been shown to burn the ground to nothing."

Sand? Burning the ground? Yeah no. But is the sand from the ground different material than the gourd sand? If real sand gets wet, it sticks together, so I'd imagine why a thicker liquid would slow down Gaara's sand.

"This also brings me to another point i wanted to make earlier in the debate my opponent claim Gaara"s sand uses chakra. Which in some aspects your right but only with ground sand as it"s stated in shippuden that Gaara"s Gourd sand was made by his mothers chakra so therefore requires none of Gaara"s and thus can be used endlessly."

I kind of want to see a source for this. Can you show me where the Naruto Wiki talks about the creation of the sand?

"
The abilities of the gold dust include many many times faster then his sand but also not as durable, Gold sand also can not be slowed by oil and other such things. I await my opponent reply."

So Amaterasu can just use various brush techniques to take out the gold dust. Possibly even use a glaive.

Overview:

Gaara himself is nothing special. But the main thing to worry about is his sand control and his magnet release with the gold dust. Gold is a very malleable metal, and considering the Power Slash cuts through iron ore and diamond, gold is nothing new. Now, the sand. Rain might hinder the sand a bit, and ink perhaps more. Also, Amaterasu could use a Rosary to attack from afar, damaging Gaara's sand armor, eventually even Gaara himself. Now, the question is "Can Amaterasu stop the flow of sand"? When you really think about it, it's an interesting match up. So what do you think?

Gaara, said Yashamaru, received love everyday, from both his mother - whose spirit controlled the sand that protected him

Here's that source you asked for

Also I would like to point out gaara can use magnet release allowing metal control this does include other metals such as iron and steep as this is proved by sasory as he uses iron dust

Gaara can also turn the battlefield into sand as shown when he fought kimjmaru so this could make trying to slow it down harder this concludes my argument may the best debater win

"Gaara, said Yashamaru, received love everyday, from both his mother - whose spirit controlled the sand that protected him"

Really? The paragraph after that one shows counter evidence, explaining that Yashamaru lied about this love;

"Yashamaru had been ordered to kill him, but Yashamaru insisted, lying to Gaara, that he volunteered and that he'd always hated Gaara for causing Karura's death. Karura [the mother] had not loved Gaara either, and named him after the phrase "a self-loving carnage" (我|34;愛{77;|27;修羅, Ware o aisuru shura) so that he would be a curse upon Suna for what it had done to her."

I doubt the mother would protect him much if she named him "self loving carnage".

"Also I would like to point out gaara can use magnet release allowing metal control this does include other metals such as iron and [steel] as this is proved by sasory as he uses iron dust"

Iron dust? Amaterasu can break iron and diamond ore. I don't know the qualities of metal dust, however. Would it be able to be destroyed? Maybe it's more fragile than iron ore, as it's tiny particles. I'd imagine this is the case, according to my personal logic.

"Gaara can also turn the battlefield into sand as shown when he fought kimjmaru so this could make trying to slow it down harder this concludes my argument may the best debater win"

Amaterasu does have Veil of Mist, which can slow down time, allowing her to react better.

Conclusion:

This is definitely an interesting debate. Both fighters have amazing powers, but limited usage of them. Gaara's sand armor keeps him from any harm, but requires a lot of chakra to maintain, compared to his other attacks. This means all Amaterasu has to do is keep the pressure on Gaara's person, with Rosaries and Celestial Brush techniques. Amaterasu can counter sand by rain and ink, making it thicker, and difficult to control. Metal dust would be immune to this, but can possibly still be destroyed with a strong force, like perhaps Cherry Bomb.

Amaterasu is able to counter almost everything Gaara can do, so it shouldn't be long before Gaara's chakra runs out before Amaterasu's ink does. But ultimately, it's a question of who would outlast the other. Rosary can damage the sand armor, maybe Tundra Beads would be super effective? Anyways, I'm not sure what the outcome would be. Though I'd imagine Amaterasu wouldn't show mercy against Gaara, even without "morals off, and bloodlust on".

So what do you guys think? Could the sun goddess Amaterasu defeat the sand controlling Gaara?

I hope you created an argument for Gaara before challenging me to this debate. And don't worry about trying to find weaknesses of Amaterasu, and pointing them out Round 2. Round 2 is better off for constructing why your chosen character would win, rather than why the opponent would lose. (Also, as far as I'm aware, Amaterasu doesn't have any real weaknesses, just limitations.)
