I think that Light was doing something good with the note.

I accept the challenge. Pro has the full BoP to show that Light Yagami was "morally correct."

Before we begin I would like to define some terms.

Morally Correct/Right: Conforming to a standard of right behavior http://www.merriam-webster.com...;

"Right Behaviour": Ethical Behavior:
Acting in ways consistent with what society and individuals typically think are good values. http://www.businessdictionary.com...;

My statment is Light Yagami was not moral in killing roughly 42,000[1] people.

[1] On average Light killed 23 people a day for 5 years. 23*365*5=~42,000

But were they people who had done wrong? Almost all religions think that people who wrong others are bad people. People supported him, making it right for him to be doing if a large number of people think it is right. As long as the people supported him, he was right. The people he was killing were criminals who were doing wrong right then.

Not all of the people Light killed were criminals. He announced and said several times that he would kill anyone in his way including the police and innocent bystanders. As far as your statement on religion, that doesn't apply to a debate on an anime that doesn't mention religion other that saying Light can't go to Heaven or Hell for using the Death Note.

Light even said things like:
"Those who oppose the god are truly Evil!"
"In every world, the gods always make the rules. You will fall before my fake rules and, for the sin of going against the new world's God, die."

I'll make you trust me. And when you've told me everything I need to know, I'll kill you.

People supported Kira because they were afraid of his power, you and I would be too. He, as I said before, said that he'd kill anyone in his way no matter what.

I awaight further arguments from Pro.
