Firstly, I want to tell you that the death penalty is more expensive than a life sentence. [1] I wouldn't care about the expenses if I thought that the death penalty was necessary, but I don't think it's necessary because I think a life sentence is already a good enough punishment due to the fact that prisoners get their freedom taken away from them and sometimes prisoners live in fear of being murdered, raped, etc. [2] [3]

Secondly, I want to tell you that it's possible for an innocent person to receive the death penalty as a punishment for a crime they didn't commit. [4] If the innocent person was punished with a life sentence rather than a death penalty then there's still time for the innocent person to be released, but if the innocent person was punished with the death penalty then there's a chance that it'll be too late to release the innocent person because they'll be dead.

Finally, I want to tell you that American states where the death penalty is illegal have had consistently lower murder rates than the American states where the death penalty is legal, so the death penalty is useless other than to avenge the death of the victim. [5]

I don't think the probability of an innocent man to receive penalty in our society that is thoroughly protected by laws is as easy as the opposition has written in his speech.Undeniably,in the past there have been several cases that innocent men received
an unjustified punishment. However, those cases are extremely rare and you can not take those cases as the representation of the general criminals who committed some horrible crimes.
In addition, keeping those criminals behind bars makes the government must take on another financial burden,Those money originally could be spent on constructing some infrastructures and complete a comprehensive medical system. Therefore, what makes those scumbags so special that the taxpayers mush pay an extra money to feed them up?

The Con had forfeited his round to deliver a new speech and because of that reason,I am not able to do any rebuttal against his arguments.
So,I am going to give my new arguments instead.According to Global Hunger Index, around half of the total population in the globe are still suffering from hunger, especially in underprivileged countries, many children in those countries died every single minute because of malnutrition, which means the global food yields could no longer keep up with the velocity of human reproduction. Therefore, why do the government have to waste our valuable food on criminals who are punished with a life long sentence? Why don't the government donate the food for prisoners to the third world and change the life there?

"keeping those criminals behind bars makes the government must take on another financial burden" Con just claimed that the death penalty costs more a life of prison -- a claim that I have not heard disputed. You will have to, at the very least, claim this is wrong before you can make this a tenet of your argument.
