The death penalty is necessary and proper for matters regarding retribution. Many states have used the death penalty as an option for punishment. In the United States, when people commit horrific crimes victims yearn to seek justice immediately afterwards. The death penalty can deter people from criminal activities for fear of death. Unfortunately vicious people must be killed in order to prevent them from committing crime again. Supreme Court Justice, Antonin Scalia, supports the death penalty and has no problem sentencing any prisoner to Death Row.
People should not be sentenced to the death penalty just because they committed crimes. Although, family and loved ones of someone who might have been murdered would like to put their loved one's murderer sentenced to the death penalty, two wrongs do not make a right. Revenge is not what the United States Constitution is about.
