The following are some proofs the the universe began to exist.

The expanding universe: The universe is expanding, which means something had to start the expansion. Since the universe is expanding, the universe had to have come into being from a single point in the past.

The second law of thermodynamics: According to thermodynamics, the universe is slowly running out of usable energy. If the universe had been here forever, it would have run out of usable energy by now.

The cosmic background radiation: We can see that some of the heat has cooled down from the beginning of the universe. Again, this shows the universe had to have began to exist.

Philosophy: Philosophically, the idea of a eternal universe is absurd. If you think about it, if the universe is eternal, then the number of past events in our universe is eternal.

Reasons for voting decision: Well, that was simple. Con sort of missed the point of debating - you ARE supposed to oppose your opponent's arguments and actually try to win, you know. This exercise in agreeableness goes squarely to Pro, for actually having made arguments.
