Dams cost to much
Grandzam

Pro

The economic factors of dams are irrelevant. How much dams cost has nothing to do with how bad of an impact it has on the environment.

Since my opponent has failed to give any relevant arguments, I will go right on ahead with my contentions.

Contention #1 (and probably my only contention as well):

"In some instances, dams provide enhanced environmental protection, such as the retention of hazardous materials and detrimental sedimentation."

Without dams, some hazardous waste that goes down the river gets stopped up at the dam, which is beneficial for the plant life around the river.

You seem dumb if you can't look up the effects of dams. Just saying.

hard to argue that they benefit the environment. I mean the debate should be Do the benefits of Dams outweigh the cost or something. It's like the hydraulic fracturing topic. Pro shows economic benefits while Con shows environmental harms.

Dam's like fracturing hurt the environment however it has economic benefits. So con has to prove the environment is getting hurt bad enough to outweigh those benefits and pro has to show the economic benefits outweigh those harms.

Change the resolution to allow for pro to back up economic benefits and someone will accept this. Hard to provide environmental benefits especially since the environment is damaged for the manifestation of the dam itself.
