I believe that poems (especially love poems) affect people's emotions because it portrays what people feel inside when people think about. When you read people poems to people they connect with things some people can't explain.

No it doesn't help because school makes people hate poems and just get frustrated trying to forcibly write one, forming a negative view of poems and some people can't connect with poems. Songs help emotions better. When you read someone else's poem you may misunderstand it and portray the exact opposite meaning.

I am pretty sure they do the opposite. They stimulate the emotion's which are most influential to the person's current state, But NONE of them which are not relative to the current state. If not the opposite to helping, the effects are Mute.
